Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. Then she’s knocked off her bike on the way to her housekeeping job at McCarthy’s Resort Hotel by Gansett’s "favorite son", Mac McCarthy. He’s back in town to help his father with preparations to sell the family resort and has no intention of staying long. When Mac accidentally sends Maddie flying over the handlebars, badly injuring her, he moves in to nurse her back to health and help care for her young son. He soon realizes his plans for a hit-and-run visit to the island are in serious jeopardy, and he just may be "maid" for love.

"With the McCarthy's of Gansett Island, Marie Force makes you believe in the power of true love and happily ever after. Over and over again." (Carly Phillips, NY Times best-selling author of the Serendipity series.)
I have read all of these books now listening to them on audible . I can not get enough of these books it puts you right with them and on to the next I go..hope you enjoy then as I do.
Say something about yourself!
On the fence about this. I rarely read print books any more since I can "read" an audiobook while exercising, driving or relaxing. I did not care for the narrator who put no emotion or performance in her execution nor she differentiate the characters.
Both Maddy and Mac
Big Mac. He came across as such a kind, loving person.
I love series and will listen to more in this one but I wish there was a different narrator.
Pacific Northwest Gardener
I read this on my Kindle a long time ago, but I couldn't even remember the story-line. To me it was only so-so. What bothered me about the audiobook is ... well, she just pretty much read the story. You couldn't discern _who_ was speaking. There was no "acting" involved at all. Ms. Fielding has a very pleasant voice, but she's not suited to being an audiobook narrator.
I can see that a lot of people really liked this story, but it was just blah for me and the reader didn't elevate it at all.
I liked this book and story but the narrator was very bland....maybe she will get better but she was so bored sounding. Like she was just reading out loud without feeling......joan in KY
I am a salesperson on the road everyday, mother of 2 grown children. Happily married
This book was very relaxing, just what I needed. I liked the narrator. The story line was good sometimes predictable sometimes not
This was a sweet story. It is written and edited fairly well. The narration did not have much differentiation amongst the character voices which cost it a star in this review. Although I purchased it on sale it is worth a credit.
HATE spoilers! Enjoy HOT, sexy books w/a plot. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. Books outside HOT genre = books given to me to review
This is a perfectly, charming book with a little bit of naughtiness that made it wonderful.
The basics: Maddie and her infant son are living on an island. She has a job as a housekeeper. One day while riding her bike to work, a local, who has moved away for several years and returned to help the family wrap up some issues.
As he is driving distractedly down the road, he hits the bike that Maddie is riding on. No worries, just cuts and scrapes. However, she is terrified that if she doesn't show up for work she will lose her job and the only income. So the hero/accident causer, Mac, decides to help her as she is recuperating by helping her with her son.
Their relationship grows and there are some trust issues along with other things that challenge any romance (rumors about her trashy way & Mac's mother's dislike for her) it is well written and a really nice, easy listen.
The narrator was excellent. It is my measure of how well the narrator does by their performance of the opposite sex. It is a true challenge and this narrator easily did the female roles and a good job with the male roles. (If I am distracted by a man performing a woman as a lisp for a female. Or trying to deepen her voice further than natural.) However, this narrator was able to do a fantastic job with the female roles and it was seamless with the male role. I was lost & engrossed in the story, not distracted at all.
Notes: A few descriptions of sex
This is a long series with 12 editions and it has definitely made my Wish List.
Credit worthy/$: This is too short of book for me to use a credit. My rule is seven hours or longer to use the credit. However, I was able to purchase it for $1.99. It was definitely money well spent.

I had been curious about Marie Force as an author, her name kept on coming up in my suggested books list. I was very disappointed in this book. The characters we caricatures. It had me rolling my eyes often.
The book was not helped by the narrator nor the quality of the recording.
It was all around disappointing.
The person who narrated Holly Fielding....not so good. She ruined the story, very boring. If I was the author I'd be pissed
