Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. Then she’s knocked off her bike on the way to her housekeeping job at McCarthy’s Resort Hotel by Gansett’s "favorite son", Mac McCarthy. He’s back in town to help his father with preparations to sell the family resort and has no intention of staying long. When Mac accidentally sends Maddie flying over the handlebars, badly injuring her, he moves in to nurse her back to health and help care for her young son. He soon realizes his plans for a hit-and-run visit to the island are in serious jeopardy, and he just may be "maid" for love.

"With the McCarthy's of Gansett Island, Marie Force makes you believe in the power of true love and happily ever after. Over and over again." (Carly Phillips, NY Times best-selling author of the Serendipity series.)
I love Marie Force books and I have all of them on my iPad Kindle. I didn't like the audio version the narrator was boring
Sweet yet close to life
Didn't like the performance
The narrator did a good job. The story line was interesting. The lovemaking was too detailed for this listener/reader. Downright embarrassing.
easy read, wish all men loved their wives this way. It does keep you guessing. Maddie is hard to figure out. wish next book would carry on with their relationship and marriage. or woupd have been ended to the end of this book.
I just finished listening to this audiobook and....I'm a mess! I admit it --- I'm one of those people who cry at the drop of a hat. If it's something sad.....I cry. If it's something happy... I cry. I just can't help it. I also yell at the characters when they frustrate me or even when they've made me proud! I did a lot of yelling throughout and then the tears fell during the last couple of chapters. Sad, happy, frustrated, happy....ugh! All signs that I really enjoyed this story!!
I especially loved Mac -- he's such a sweetheart! I read reviews from readers on Amazon's Kindle site --- makes me wonder, did they read something totally different?? A couple of reviewers felt this story "wasn't real enough". Seriously? If I want "real", I go to NON-fiction. When I read or listen to this type of book, I want to be taken away, immersed in a love story with a dreamy hunk of a man! That IS Mac!
If you too want a "take you away" love story, this is one audiobook you must get!
I have read all of these books now listening to them on audible . I can not get enough of these books it puts you right with them and on to the next I go..hope you enjoy then as I do.
Say something about yourself!
On the fence about this. I rarely read print books any more since I can "read" an audiobook while exercising, driving or relaxing. I did not care for the narrator who put no emotion or performance in her execution nor she differentiate the characters.
Both Maddy and Mac
Big Mac. He came across as such a kind, loving person.
I love series and will listen to more in this one but I wish there was a different narrator.

I read this on my Kindle a long time ago, but I couldn't even remember the story-line. To me it was only so-so. What bothered me about the audiobook is ... well, she just pretty much read the story. You couldn't discern _who_ was speaking. There was no "acting" involved at all. Ms. Fielding has a very pleasant voice, but she's not suited to being an audiobook narrator.
I can see that a lot of people really liked this story, but it was just blah for me and the reader didn't elevate it at all.
I liked this book and story but the narrator was very bland....maybe she will get better but she was so bored sounding. Like she was just reading out loud without feeling......joan in KY
I am a salesperson on the road everyday, mother of 2 grown children. Happily married
This book was very relaxing, just what I needed. I liked the narrator. The story line was good sometimes predictable sometimes not
