Addicted to books, especially audiobooks. Read lots and prosper!
If you love Urban Fantasy, then don't hesitate in choosing Ilona Andrews! For best enjoyment, read/listen to Magic Bites and Magic Burns, then savor Magic Strikes. Renee Raudman catches our herione's voice and tone so well and is always a pleasure to listen too! This story will take you on a fast ride that dosn't stop until the end and you wish you had several chapters more. Audible, thanks for bringing this listen on board - we will ALWAYs want more Ilona Andrews!
I read the first 2 books a while ago and to read up before the 4th book I decided to try an audio book version. And I have to tell you, it was great. THe voice is, at least for me, spot on. I really really love it. NOw I think I am going to buy all the volumes in audio books.
So if you like the series go for it, you will not regret it. Well, even if you don't know the series, if you like magic and tough woman heroine go for it. It's great.
Magic Strikes, is the 3rd book in the "Magic" series, written by the man and wife team that goes by the name, Ilona Andrews.
Each book in this series, gets better and better.
In this book, you get the same action packed story, that is present in the 2 prior books. But, there is also a bit more romance, which I loved.
I can't wait for the next book to come out!
Listening to a book three times isn't unusual for me. Reading one 3 times in 3 days is a first. It's a great series, and this book has emotion, lot's of action, and Kate's past coming into play.Raudman brings *all* the characters to life. She makes it easy to forget that there is only one person narrating.
I am loving this series! Kate is a likable character and this book finally gives some insights into all the hints recieved in previous books. Alot of details and exclellent narration, I'm happy to give this book a 5 star - something I don't do very often. If you loved the other books, this one will not disapoint!
This has got to be one of my favorite reads. The only thing that could make these audios perfect is if they used a guy's voice. If you like Hamilton, Briggs, Harrison, or Moning you will love this. No, it's not filled with sex but it will grab you and not let go.
I love to read, but I am time-limited. Audible allows me to keep up with all my favorite authors while on the hiking trail. Thanks, Audible!
Another wonderful book with a horrible title. I love this series and can't wait for the next installment. The Andrews are smart and funny. Please write more :) Audible.com: please get their writings asap.
This series is the best I've read in the genre. The heroine is tough and funny, but with a heart. Her chemistry with the Beast Lord sparks and sizzles the whole way through. All the other characters are getting more developed and interesting with each outing. Lots of action, wit and romance in each book, and a nice complexity to the setting make this a must read. Please don't make us wait too long for the next one!!
This was my favorite book of the series so far, but they've all been great. I'm very impressed by this author and can't wait for more. Action packed and full of potential for romance, the series just keeps getting better and better. And Renee Raudman is a great narrator, too. I know I'll listen to these books over and over again.
I have found myself hooked on this series, can't wait for the next! Usually by the third book of a series the characters get tiresome, and the story overdrawn, not so with this set although I do not want to wait too much longer for a good roll with the beast king.
As usual Ilona Andrews has delivered a very witty, well written fantasy that had me laughing out loud in places. The characters in her stories are always well described and as the series continues have got more real. In this instalment Kate finds herself, as usual, arse deep in alligators and has to contend with the continued interest of Curran. This is a very fast paced book with action all the way through - I had a hard job concentrating on anything else the last couple of days as I couldn't stop listening to it. The narrator Renee Raudman does a very good job although some of the shapeshifters sound as if they've been eating brillo pads. I recommend this book to everyone but would recommend reading or listening to the other two books first. Cant wait for the next one.
"Magic strikes, burns and bites."
This book is the third in a wonderful light sci-fantasy series, that grips you from the very start. It is a combination of future fantasy, adventure, loyalty, and romance with some blood letting and action to keep you turning pages quickly. Its all wrapped up and delivered in the humorous dialouge that the lead character "Kate" gives, as you listen to her thoughts. I have squirmed with embarrassment and laughed out loud at the situations she finds herself in. This dialouge has improved as the series has progressed and as the relationships develop between the characters. There is good description of scenes allowing a good imagination to watch it as it played out.
I initially felt in the first book that Renee Raudmann had the wrong voice for the characters but as I have listened to her, I have come to appreciate how well her drole accent enhances the drole comments written within the story. She acts them out beautifully, giving the listener a real sense of being part of it and in my mind her voice is "Kate". I waited with real impatience for this book to appear with audible, and almost bought it in paperback form. I'm glad i didnt do it now, as I would have lost the experience of listening to it. Unfortunatley like all good books it comes to an end too soon and so the wait is now on for the next installment. I only hope I don't have to wait too long.
"Fast paced, frustrating, left me wanting more!"
I loved this book but i was really hoping for something to move on with Kate and Curran.....the writing was set at a good pace kept going without many of the tedious backstory paragraphs that avid followers of the series will also find frustrating (this applies to most series not just this one though).
I thought the development of Derek's character was good and i'm looking forward to seeing where he goes from here and i also liked that Julie featured in this book and developed her character too. I thought the villans in this book were ingenious and they were so evil i wanted to get in the games and kick their butts myself for all their smarmy looks.
All in all can't wait for the next book!
deffinatly ! its a dream come true for an urban fantasy fan.So imaginative . I wish the rest of the books were available.
Kate....basic ly because she is a rock star of heroism,I love how her mind works, her interactions and ways of dealing with people(although I am aware this gets her in trouble sometimes ha)selfless but a fighter.
waw she is great at preforming this book! she really brings the charactors to life.
i did indeed listen to it all in one go!( i stayed up most the night infact)
This is one of my favourite Kate Daniels books and the narrator is perfect for it. The fight scenes can't be too easy to read and she does it brilliantly and there's only one voice in the whole audio that seems out of place which is saying something. well worth adding to the library!
"I couldn't stop listening!"
It was so well written and well told. It was fast paced with witty dialogue, engaging characters and a fantastic plot. Highly recommended!
All of them!
Renee brings the story to life. She is a natural storyteller. Great voices, great pace.
"My favourite story from this series."
Not the best narrator I ever heard but not the worse, but as this is my favourite story from this series I am a little bias.
"what's not to love..."
The banter between Kate and Curran is reaching a peak, we find out more about Kate's secretive past life, we also get to see more of Andrea and Saiman.
picking one is hard... maybe the hot tub scene :)
this is the third book in the series that I have listened to, that is narrated by Renee and I now hear her voice when I read Kate.
I wanted to, but nights are bad enough being kept awake by a baby, so no lots of small snippets.
I read this book in 2009 and had a great enthusiasm for this series, which hasn't waned over the years, Magic Rises comes out in a few days and I am just as excited.
I have been listening to these audiobooks to refresh me before the new release, a great thing when I have no time for reading, but can multitask entertaining children and listening.
I wish Audible would stock the rest of the series, I've had to purchase a few elsewhere to fill the gaps in my listening library.
