Love the One You're With | [Emily Giffin]

Love the One You're With

Ellen's relationship to Andy doesn't just seem perfect on the surface, it really is perfect. She loves his family, and everything about him, including that he brings out the best in her. That is, until Ellen unexpectedly runs into Leo. The one who got away. The one who brought out the worst in her. The one she can't forget. This is the story about why we choose to love the ones we love, and why we just can't forget the ones who aren't right for us.

Emily Giffin brings both humor and heart to her novels and has an uncanny ability to tap into the things women are really thinking and feeling. With Love the One You're With, she proves, once again, why she is the fastest rising star of women's fiction writing today.

What the Critics Say

"Though it's easy to resent [Ellen] for taking [her] ideal life for granted, Giffin's vivid depictions of Ellen's steamy past with Leo help you commiserate with this realistically insecure woman." (Entertainment Weekly)

    "Got Sucked In..."

I'm not sure why I didn't expect this book to be as good as it was, but I was totally sucked into this book and unable to stop listening. I took it in the car, walked around with it on my ipod as I did my chores in the house and yard, and listened to it falling asleep at night. It sounds absolutely pathetic of me - that I have no life - but this was a great listen! Loved it. Also, the short interview with the author at the end was a really nice touch. Thanks Audible. Now I'm looking for another book by the same author. ps: the narrator did a fabulous job, too. She hit just the right tone, good rate of speech, and her characters were distinct and easily identifiable. Well done. :)

    "Typical Giffin Book"

Nice easy read - very enjoyable. Would recommend. Very similar in style to her other book in the Heart of the Matter.

    "Bad narration"

Like the book, but the narrator was trying too hard to be an actor. The accents and girly inflections were annoying.

    "Ultimately disappointing"

Quite interesting story but ultimately disappointing as the heroine opts for the virtuous but stultifying life which is sweetened by an unrealistic and unconvincing element of freedom

    "Loved this book"

I truly enjoyed this book. My only criticism would be that the main character, Ellen, said the name "Leo" about a gazillion times. I liked that it took place in nY which I am always fascinated by. I will defintiely read more of the author's books.
