Publisher's summary

Best friends Charlotte and Janine have serious problems with their love lives. Charlotte's husband, the flashy preacher Curtis Black, may keep her living in luxury, but his book tours and evangelism mean he's never home. Charlotte's sure he's cheating and even hires a PI to follow him, but she's been known to have indiscretions herself. Her 12-year-old, Matthew, is another man's son, and she suspects troubled five-year-old, Marissa, whom she swore was Curtis' child, might be the result of a tryst with a schizophrenic.

Charlotte's friend Janine, a college professor, also is worried that her boyfriend, Antonio, is cheating on her, as well as getting heavily into drug dealing. She kicks him out, but Antonio won't take no for an answer.

Hilarious!

Love & Lies was truly a "piece of work". Apparently this story is part of a series, however it's not necessary that you read the previous books. The narrarator pulled me right on in and the writer had me cracking up. I found myself talking to my iPod trying to offer advice. If you want something to make you laugh, yet is filled with drama - this is the book for you.

A first-class production

This book had a nice tempo to the storyline that held my attention throughout. The characters were well developed -- so much so that I wanted to jump in and strangle some of the guys myself! The best part of all was the narrator. What a delight! The voices she used really brought the story to life.

"A Keeper"

I have enjoyed listening to this "True to Real Life" book. It does appear that the author has done her research about human behavior. People can be and many are sinful, and can be doubt-minded even within the House of God. Listen to this book and judge for yourself. I am not much on writing reviews but this time I had to response.

Unbelievable

Didn’t like this book as much as the other 3 books; the stupidity of Janine was so out there, it was plain old dumb. Charlotte wasn’t much better. Hope the next book is better.

Beyond Horrible!

I hate to be so harsh, but I felt so mislead by the other reviews that I had to chime in. How anyone could find this book funny is completely beyond me. I forced myself to listen to the entire book, as painful as it was, because I couldn't write the review I'm writing without having given the book a chance. The characters were all so self destructive, mean, selfish and stupid that I was hoping for some dramatic car crash at the end to kill them all off. Bad, huh? These people's lives were one self-induced train wreck after another and I was so disheartened and depressed by the end of this book that I immediately downloaded something light to counteract the bad feelings this book left me with. I read a lot and I enjoy all different types of books, but this was indeed awful and the only nice thing I can say is that the narrator did a good job with a really bad book.

Simply Awful

Neither of the protagonists were likable. One is a lying cheat who expects the truth from everyone else and suffers from incredible entitlement. The other is book smart and street stupid. The plot is so contrived & convoluted that it reached the point of ridiculous. By chapter 22, I no longer cared about any of them & removed it from my Ipod. Good riddance!

Love and Lies

I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put it down. The Characters Charlotte and Genine had extremely interesting lives, I found myself thinking that these were real people. My hat goes off to Kimberla Lawson Roley. Thank you for another great book.

Meh

Drawn out for no reason and all over the place. Marissa was my favorite character lol. Charlotte is annoying and the addiction of Genine and her stupidity just seems unnecessary.
