Gracie has spent her life running from her problems. This time, it's a matter of life and death.
With nothing but five dollars, a train ticket, and the wedding dress she's wearing, Gracie Lister escapes with her daughter to the West Texas country where her family fell apart years ago. There, Lieutenant Michael Wayne - devoted single father, dedicated soldier - gives Gracie the hiding place she needs, and a job caring for his two children. Michael and Gracie aren't looking for love, but it finds them right away.
The couple doesn't exactly see eye-to-eye, though. A vengeful druglord has put a price on Michael's head, and he's determined to face the enemy head-on. When Gracie's ex-fiance catches up to her, her impulse is to flee the danger and the father she lacks the courage to confront.
Will Michael and Gracie find the strength they need in each other to protect their family and the home they've created?

Others may have enjoyed this book and it isn't horrible, but why must the heroine be an idiot?
Heroine runs from former boyfriend known to have connections to the cartel; yet she answers his phone calls.
Woman warns heroine that her life is in danger - heroine decides not to tell anyone what she is doing to avoid the bad guys. She will solve this problem on her own.
The book was okay, but nothing special. Great Christian fiction includes a great plot and superior writing.
I loved listening to these books, I only wish the reader had been more consistent with the characters. Ally had a different accent in all three books. While it didn't change the story it did seem inconsistent and a bit off putting. The story was awesome and with unexpected twist all the way through the book. Colleen Coble is a wonderful writer. I enjoyed the book and will continue to the 4th. One even though I'm thinking it may have a slightly different storyline since the end of this book ended with an epilogue. Guess I'll have to stop writing and move on to it to see. Happy listening everybody. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a good book.
The narrator was excellent, and the story was eye-opening. I have never been afraid like Gracie was, but then I've never doubted the Love of God for me, and that He will always look after me. I found her a bit irritating at times, but then I've never been her shoes. As the old hymn says "What a privilege we carry to take everything to God in prayer"
God bless you Colleen for your lovely stories, and may God bless you with many more!
I would recommend this book to a friend if they are into a easy story.
Yes. Why? its a mindless read. You can read and enjoy, There are not multiple plots. its just easy.
The narrator did a good job. I felt like I was intouch with the happenings of the book.
Dislike. Made the main female out to be fairly dumb.
