Life's Golden Ticket tells the story of a man who is so trapped in the prisons of his past that he cannot see the possibilities, the choices, and the gifts he has right in front of him. At the behest of his fiancée, who is clinging to life in a hospital bed, he takes the envelope she hands him and makes his way to an old, abandoned amusement park to appease her delirious pleadings. But when he steps through the rusted entrance gates, the abandoned park magically comes to life.
He soon meets Harry, an old groundskeeper, and together they set out to uncover what happened to his fiancée Mary. Along the way, the narrator visits a number of caring yet confrontational park employees: a hypnotist, a fortune-teller, high-wire performers, screaming carnies, and a lion tamer, all of whom somehow know about his life and his relationship with Mary. Through each encounter he must answer difficult questions, overcome obstacles, listen to lessons from those wiser than he and take a good hard look at himself. At the end of his journey, he opens Mary's mysterious envelope and discovers a golden ticket - the final phase in turning his tragic life's story of loss and regret into a triumphant tale of love and redemption.

"Burchard is a competent writer and full of earnest enthusiasm for his topic...Readers dissatisfied with their lives but not wild about nonfictional self-help books may find inspiration for change here." (Publishers Weekly)
Audio is better for me than the print version. Listening to books while commuting to and from work is a great way to make use of somewhat idle time. Between scenes there were a couple of parts where music chimed in immediately at the tail end of a character speaking, which made it sound a little choppy, but no words were cut off.
This book is similar to books like the Celestine Prophecy and Alchemist, all of which are books on spiritual awakening and awareness. I love spiritual genre books and loved this book!
Great! There were multiple characters in the book and I could easily visualize each of them. I found myself tearing up and talking to myself on some parts of the book. Very moving.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books on spirituality.
Yes - the story is entertaining and well-read. I love how the narrator used different voices for all the characters. It kept my attention and I felt like it was all true.
Yes the lessons taught over all were very good, and the story was an entertaining way to teach them.
The vocal intonations and characterizations were superb - the best I've heard!
Life's a circus!
The story is a little trite and predictable but all good lessons and told in an entertaining way. I think it should be required ready for high schoolers!
This book Challanged me to look at my life a whole different way. I learned that i need to take a more hands on approach to my life. This book showed me to pay attention to the little things and i can create huge changes in my life.
I think this book is one of a kind, because it obviously reflects the authors past and present relationships and the meanings behind them.
I think this book would have been more Real if it had been read by the author himself.
The guid that gets him in and takes him around to meet the people he needed to meet. because i think we all need to find that guid in our lives, that can show us to look at life from a different perspective. I think perspective on life is w hat pushes us to make big changes.
With a cast of fascinating characters, a dramatic series of events and lessons easily carried into your life now, Brendon has masterfully put forward a great self-help fiction book. Once you get started on the carnival rides of life the lessons grow deeper and new insights unfold for the listener. This is a must read/listen book for anyone serious about taking control or transforming their lives.
This book's best seller status and acclaims are purely manufactured. It's really not worth reviewing. It's just a bad book.
