Publisher's Summary

In this moving parable of personal growth and change, Burchard has created a rich, emotional journey of transformation that, by its end, will have listeners feeling like they can truly start their lives anew, as if they've received a "golden ticket": a second chance at life.

Life's Golden Ticket tells the story of a man who is so trapped in the prisons of his past that he cannot see the possibilities, the choices, and the gifts he has right in front of him. At the behest of his fiancée, who is clinging to life in a hospital bed, he takes the envelope she hands him and makes his way to an old, abandoned amusement park to appease her delirious pleadings. But when he steps through the rusted entrance gates, the abandoned park magically comes to life.

He soon meets Harry, an old groundskeeper, and together they set out to uncover what happened to his fiancée Mary. Along the way, the narrator visits a number of caring yet confrontational park employees: a hypnotist, a fortune-teller, high-wire performers, screaming carnies, and a lion tamer, all of whom somehow know about his life and his relationship with Mary. Through each encounter he must answer difficult questions, overcome obstacles, listen to lessons from those wiser than he and take a good hard look at himself. At the end of his journey, he opens Mary's mysterious envelope and discovers a golden ticket - the final phase in turning his tragic life's story of loss and regret into a triumphant tale of love and redemption.

    "Another great spiritual awakening book"
Would you consider the audio edition of Life's Golden Ticket to be better than the print version?

Audio is better for me than the print version. Listening to books while commuting to and from work is a great way to make use of somewhat idle time. Between scenes there were a couple of parts where music chimed in immediately at the tail end of a character speaking, which made it sound a little choppy, but no words were cut off.

What other book might you compare Life's Golden Ticket to and why?

This book is similar to books like the Celestine Prophecy and Alchemist, all of which are books on spiritual awakening and awareness. I love spiritual genre books and loved this book!

What about Rick Rohan’s performance did you like?

Great! There were multiple characters in the book and I could easily visualize each of them. I found myself tearing up and talking to myself on some parts of the book. Very moving.

    Any additional comments?

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys books on spirituality.

Would you listen to Life's Golden Ticket again? Why?

Yes - the story is entertaining and well-read. I love how the narrator used different voices for all the characters. It kept my attention and I felt like it was all true.

Would you recommend Life's Golden Ticket to your friends? Why or why not?

Yes the lessons taught over all were very good, and the story was an entertaining way to teach them.

What about Rick Rohan’s performance did you like?

The vocal intonations and characterizations were superb - the best I've heard!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Life's a circus!

    Any additional comments?

The story is a little trite and predictable but all good lessons and told in an entertaining way. I think it should be required ready for high schoolers!

    "Terrible... Really Disappointing"

This book's best seller status and acclaims are purely manufactured. It's really not worth reviewing. It's just a bad book.
