In one cataclysmic moment, millions around the globe disappear. Vehicles, suddenly unmanned, careen out of control. People are terror stricken as loved ones vanish before their eyes. Is this the rapture prophesied by scriptures in the Bible from ancient times? If so, what destiny and tribulations are about to befall those who remain on the Earth and are left behind?
In the midst of global chaos, airline captain Rayford Steele must search for his family, for answers, for truth. As devastating as the strange disappearances have been, the darkest days may yet lie ahead....

I read these several years ago and am now listening to them. They are as enthralling and thought-provoking as I remembered. Note: Audible has this series narrated by two different people. Be sure to listen to a sample before buying. I much prefer Jack Sondericker as the narrator. The other one sounds a bit computer-generated to me but it is just personal preference. I found the series to be life-changing. No, you shouldn't get your theology from novels, but they sure can make you think about your life!
I am a Christian wife and mother. I write two blogs. My somewhat theological blog is called "Just Another Clay Pot," and my Fiction/Poetry blog is called "Weightiness and Whimsy."
This review covers "Left Behind" and "Tribulation Force" as narrated by Jack Sondericker.
I am so disappointed with the audio quality of this recording. It sounds like it was recorded straight off of a cassette which had been wound tightly for a long time. The audio is full of echoes and pre-echoes from where the cassette tape had experienced bleed-through. If you listen through earphones as I do, it's extremely distracting.
Additionally, there is a ton of background noise. Furious pencil-scratching sounds, bangs and clanks...and I'm almost certain I heard a toilet flush at one point.
All of that I could have tolerated, and in fact DID tolerate through Left Behind and much of Tribulation Force.
But then Rabbi Ben-Zion became a major figure, and his badly-done "Hebrew accent" is more than I can stand. If I were Jewish, I'd be insulted. It's one thing to be unable to master an accent, but it's another to make it sound as if the person is channeling a mixture of Donald Duck and Ludwig Von Drake.
I will be returning this series for a refund, but since I love the story itself, I will try again with a different narrator.
I've read this series when the books fist came out. Now I'm listening to them through Audible. Love the books and the narrator is good with voice inflection, intonation and character changes, but I sure wish someone had helped him learn the pronunciation of basic English words. It deducts from his otherwise stellar narrative when he pronounces words like "ally" as alley. This is not-picky, but for me detracting.
The narration is a bit rough, but the story line is very interesting. I enjoyed the book but will want a new narrator for the next book in the series.
Narrator makes all the men sound like 70 year old midwesterners, and all the women sound like little children. Ruins it. will try the other books with other narrators
Definitely. I enjoy being read to.
Yes. I was so eager to find out what happens next no matter where I was in the text.
He didn't confuse me with the different characters. Although his talking for the women was not always in the right emotion(my opinion).
Scary, thought seeking, and amazing in the presentation. No, I didn't laugh or cry but it certainly made me think and seek more of the Bible.
I am currently studying to become a pastor and I had heard of this book from many followers of Christ. Therefore, I decided to pick it up! Unfortunately, the plot was very bland. More or less, there is a lot of talking among the characters and talking about characters...very little doing of anything (watch out for the classic cheesy dialogue...it's distracting). If the characters were more developed with interesting personalities perhaps I would have enjoyed this book more. However, several of the characters are similar to one another and lack the feeling of being "real" (some of their conversion moments really lack the emotion and depth that needs to be there to draw the reader in).
For a book about Revelations, I expected something more.
This is book one in a long series. It took me a while to figure out all the characters, but its riveting from the start and you can't wait for the next book. Great!
Great Series of Books on the Rapture. I seriously recommend this series for those looking to learn more on the bible and Christs Rapture of the Church. Though its Fiction, it is very close to the book of Revelation in the bible and prophecy... ! READ IT !
"The drama of the end of the world!"
Yes, it was such an adventurous story with so much drama. It kept me wanting to come back to listen as soon as I had a free moment! When I finished it, I couldn't wait to listen to the next book.
When suddenly over half the people on a plane disappear without warning without knowing what cruelly happened!
Buck, also known as Cameron Williams

When captain steel was reunited with Chloe
I can't wait to download book two
"gripping from start to finish"
A fascinating dramatisation of future events which has me wanting to hear the next episode!
"Good story, shame about the recording"
Jack Sondericker would have been better not trying to do accents! Welsh accent is hilarious, English accent is pure Dick van Dyke cocknee sparred.
Amazing book, tracks what can be interpreted from Revelation. Not sensationalized. Good characters and the story moves on well. I am a Christian and I found myself relieved that I am and more concerned and inspired to tell more people how amazing Jesus is. If you are reading this as a non Christian do not be put off. Listen and see what you think, you have nothing to loose.
Could help them understand why they need Jesus Christ in their lives.
Made me even more realise that people did Jesus Christ in their lives
WEATHER OR NOT A PERSON BELIEVES IN THE TRIBULATION MATTERS NOT REALLY BUT TO BE SAVED YOU NEED JESUS CHRIST IN YOUR LIFE AND THIS BOOKS HELPS IN THAT ARE AS WELL.
