    "Great story, terrible audio"

This review covers "Left Behind" and "Tribulation Force" as narrated by Jack Sondericker.

I am so disappointed with the audio quality of this recording. It sounds like it was recorded straight off of a cassette which had been wound tightly for a long time. The audio is full of echoes and pre-echoes from where the cassette tape had experienced bleed-through. If you listen through earphones as I do, it's extremely distracting.

Additionally, there is a ton of background noise. Furious pencil-scratching sounds, bangs and clanks...and I'm almost certain I heard a toilet flush at one point.

All of that I could have tolerated, and in fact DID tolerate through Left Behind and much of Tribulation Force.

But then Rabbi Ben-Zion became a major figure, and his badly-done "Hebrew accent" is more than I can stand. If I were Jewish, I'd be insulted. It's one thing to be unable to master an accent, but it's another to make it sound as if the person is channeling a mixture of Donald Duck and Ludwig Von Drake.

I will be returning this series for a refund, but since I love the story itself, I will try again with a different narrator.

    "Great EBook, Recommended!"

Great Series of Books on the Rapture. I seriously recommend this series for those looking to learn more on the bible and Christs Rapture of the Church. Though its Fiction, it is very close to the book of Revelation in the bible and prophecy... ! READ IT !

    "Fantastic Series"

I read these several years ago and am now listening to them. They are as enthralling and thought-provoking as I remembered. Note: Audible has this series narrated by two different people. Be sure to listen to a sample before buying. I much prefer Jack Sondericker as the narrator. The other one sounds a bit computer-generated to me but it is just personal preference. I found the series to be life-changing. No, you shouldn't get your theology from novels, but they sure can make you think about your life!

    "OMG! Very thought provoking. AWESOME!!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Left Behind to be better than the print version?

Definitely. I enjoy being read to.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes. I was so eager to find out what happens next no matter where I was in the text.

What about Jack Sondericker’s performance did you like?

He didn't confuse me with the different characters. Although his talking for the women was not always in the right emotion(my opinion).

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Scary, thought seeking, and amazing in the presentation. No, I didn't laugh or cry but it certainly made me think and seek more of the Bible.

    "Great"

This is book one in a long series. It took me a while to figure out all the characters, but its riveting from the start and you can't wait for the next book. Great!

"Choose Ferone for your narrator or Frank Muller"
What did you love best about Left Behind?

It is so compelling. If you don't know the Bible you will.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would make It a T.V. series instead. Each episode could follow the book and every episode title would be named like the book titles. It would be a must see every week.

    Any additional comments?

Ferone is a better narrator than Sondericker. Sondericker made the Zion and Albie characters sound like little old German shoemakers. These are very strong charaters. After Ferone stops narrating for the rest of the book series I would choose Frank Muller. His Nicolei impression sounds a little like Count Chocola and he kept saying Ze On instead of Zion but I got used to it. Frank Muller made the rest of the characters sound just as good as Ferone.

    "solidifying, in terms of priorities"
Where does Left Behind rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

in the 99th percentile, due to the subject matter

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

yes. i considered it fictionalized non-fiction so it was like a glimpse of a probable future

Have you listened to any of Jack Sondericker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    no

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    i cried a few times

    Any additional comments?

i imagine that responses to the book are very polarized, since fundamental Christianity is becoming increasingly unpopular in society

"Yuck is the first word that comes to mind."

Listened to this because friend's book club read it and his "review" was interesting mainly because he didn't know much about the religious background. Well either did I and I have to say the beginning of the book was fantastic...if only it were sci-fi instead of religious.

    "Getting Ready for the Movie!"
If you could sum up Left Behind in three words, what would they be?

    Entertaining. Engaging. Complex.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It is entertainingly complex as it tries to paint a contemporary picture of what the Bible described thousands of years ago.

What about Jack Sondericker’s performance did you like?

His voice gives just the right amount of emotion for each character.

If you could take any character from Left Behind out to dinner, who would it be and why?

    Bruce, the pastor.
