Publisher's Summary

For Miranda, Newark has nothing to offer except a dead-end job, a crummy apartment, and an abusive boyfriend. But when her younger sister signs her up for an online dating website to prove to her the kinds of guys who would be interested in her, she starts an online connection with the perfect guy. He's handsome, he's a real-life cowboy, and... he's in his 70s!

Miranda steps off the bus to find the man of her dreams waiting for her, only he doesn't know it. His elderly father, concerned that his six sons are isolated on their highly prosperous 800,000 acre ranch signed up one of his oldest boys and did a little matchmaking behind their backs.

Now Miranda and Casey have a choice to make, but will they be willing to put aside their mistrust and give this a shot, or go their separate ways?

    Story
    "Enjoyable but strange plot"
Would you consider the audio edition of Learning to Love to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version, but I enjoyed the narration of this book immensely. Any discrepancies I have are more about the story plot and pacing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed Casey. He was a bit witty and though he seemed more immature in the beginning of the book he seemed more adult by the end.

What about Valerie Gilbert’s performance did you like?

Valerie did a great job performing this audiobook. I liked her clear pronouciation and her speech timing was excellent.

Who was the most memorable character of Learning to Love and why?

I enjoyed the father. He was a well meaning meddler but his personality was fun to listen to.

    Any additional comments?

The only issues I found with this book is that the characters conflicts switched multiple times, jumping back and forth made it harder to invest in their struggle. The multiple conflicts were then dealt with and sown up so quickly in the story line that it felt a bit pointless or rushed. Perhaps if the multiple conflicts were introduced throughout the story at various points to add to the underlying plot and tension, and then all dealt with in the ending or close to the ending the story would have felt more suspenseful or exciting. Also there were time that the speech patterns of the heroine Miranda seemed more 1800's than modern day, and it did cause some confusion as to what time the story took place in for me initially until I got used to it. This book was provided free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.

    Story
    "Cute Romance"

Narration, Valerie Gilbert - Pretty Good.

This is a cute story, nothing too deep, There's confusion with the couple as Miranda's little sister put her on a dating web site without her knowing it and Casey's dad put him on the same site without him knowing about it. Miranda ends up communicating with her 'cowboy' finding him charming and decides to come to meet him. Little did she know she'd been communicating with his 70-something year old father and when she meets Casey, he's anything BUT charming.

As I said, it's cute. Nothing really ground breaking or new if your a regular romance reader. There's some drama with an Ex and a crabby farm hand that all gets bundled up tidily. When they do finally start communicating, it gets a little quick and when they inevitably declare their love to each other, I was kind of thinking - maybe - "I think I'm crazy about you" would have been more appropriate than "I love you" at that point, but its a romance, so I guess they have to fall in love. Like I said. It was cute and an enjoyable audiobook.

I received a copy of this audiobook free of charge from AudiobookBoom in exchange for an unbiased review.

A new series from Amelia Rose. A new spin on mail order bride, internet dating site bride, but not quite what you might expect. This is a sweet western romance. We get complications, romance, suspense , and family. I look forward to more books in this series !!!!!!

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. There was plenty of emotion.

    "Learning to lOVE Book 1"

Amelia Rose knows how to write a good clean romance with characters you will fall in love with. Highly recommended!

Valerie Gilbert does a pretty good job at narrating this story, but, there's a hum in the background all throughout the book that can be a bit distracting.
