Something murderous goes bump in the night, sending the women on a search for justice when a young reporter's body is found violated and dumped on a back road. 10/10 Mystery!

Any additional comments?

The thing I loved most about 'Last Room at the Cliff's Edge' was that this book was filled with female characters who range from flighty and silly to sinister and badass. So many stories are sorely lacking in female characters that have depth and actual human characteristics. As far as diversity in gender goes, this book is fantastic.

The story itself was also a great listen. From interpersonal strife between wives to a full fledge murder mystery, this tale has a little bit of everything! This is a tight and interesting murder mystery that I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good thriller! Mark McNease spins this tale with expertise and Daniela Acitelli delivers a fabulous performance.

No Romance NOT Sizzling Just Mystery

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book was in the romance category and is not. This is a mystery & it is okay as one.

Would you recommend Last Room at the Cliff's Edge to your friends? Why or why not?

No, I would not. It is lacking in character depth. I did not know what the 2 main characters felt or thought. The story did not draw me in.

How could the performance have been better?

I did not like the voice of some of her characters..... some were very similar.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I don’t know.

Any additional comments?

Not worth a credit.

Not what I was expecting.

This book was not what I was expecting. It is a mystery that is featuring lesbians. The mystery aspect of the book was good. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher.

Excellent story and narrator!

What starts out as a road trip to get away and have some time together while Kristen works on her first mystery novel turns into the real thing when a storm strands them overnight. You can take the detective out of law enforcement, but you can't take law enforcement out of Detective Linda. Very engrossing, yet not overlong.
Ms Acitelli gives an excellent audio interpretation!

Entertaining and fun read!

My first read by this author and I thought the story was interesting. I did have a little trouble getting into the beginning as the story seemed to be predictable. I was very pleased to find that after a few plot twists I was wrong. The audio narration was enjoyable and overall I found the story entertaining!

I REALLY like the way this author writes mystery!

Once again, this author takes a refreshing approach to writing a mystery. What a privilege to listen to an F/F romance mystery courtesy of Mark McNease! Competently narrated by Daniela Acitelli, 'Last Room at the Cliff's Edge' is different from other mysteries I've read. In this book, Mark tells us 'who done it' right from the word 'Go!' Then readers treated with the excitement of seeing how Linda Sikorsky, retired homicide detective, solves it! He gives us a villain who's horrifically creepy as he plans his murders. The writer is also so horrendously clever in creating a mystery and a protagonist one can't help but admire and applaud! This was just so bleeping BRILLIANT! There is just SO VERY MUCH going on that can't be mentioned without spoiling the story! Dang, what an awesome listen! Thanks for the good time, Mr. McNease!

Never take the last room at Cliff's Edge

On the way to a writer's retreat with her wife Kristen, retired detective Linda Sikorsky is forced by a storm to stop at a seedy wayside motel in Maine. When things go bump in the night, Linda can't help reverting to her old detecting habits. She learns of the murder of a reporter for a small local paper and uncovers old secrets that have been festering for years. This satisfying mystery ends with Linda and Kristin finally making it to the retreat and all is well, but they have a wild ride getting there.

Good narration & story

Detective Linda and Kristen taking time away, when they got caught in a storm. The ingriendents are all here for a good mystery. A storm spending a night in a cliff hotel and mayhem, resulting in a body. The creepy part was Linda going down that road. Good narration by Daniela brought the character of Linda and what she is like. Given audio for my voluntary review

Good story and plot!

The narrator was awful! Unfortunately, I won’t be bothered to listen to the next book in the series. The narrator’s patronizing, pathetic and whiney is like nails on a chalk board. Too bad. I enjoy a good lesbian mystery.
