Publisher's summary

The first installment in a thrilling series in which a global catastrophe puts a family’s survival at risk—and both reveals the darkness in human hearts and lights the way to restoration.

Birmingham, Alabama, has lost all power. Its streets are jammed with cars that won’t start, and its airport is engulfed in flames from burning planes. All communications—cell phones, computers, even radios—are silent. Every home and business is dark. Is it a natural disaster, a terrorist attack, or something far worse?

In the face of a crisis that sweeps an entire high-tech planet back to a time before electricity, the Branning family faces a choice. Will they hoard their possessions in order to survive—or trust God to provide as they share their resources with those around them? Yesterday’s world is gone. Family and community are all that remain. And the outage is revealing the worst in some.

Desperation can be dangerous—especially when a killer lives among them.

If it does nothing else it will get you thinking

I have listened, to "Last Light" and having been with out electricity for over three weeks after the hurricanes that hit Fla., I felt much the same way that these characters felt. And believe me after the first week my family was on each other's nerves. Just knowing the electricity would soon be back on was all that got us through.
And as I was looking for a good Christian author, it felt good to read this book and then recommend this book to others, with out saying, just ignore the few bad parts. Thanks Terry for this book.
And as for bringing Christ into the Book, It made me stop and take a good long look at my own life.
To see where I stand with God, myself. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books by this author.

This was a wonderful story. I was hooked from the first paragraph. It was very suspenseful and well performed by Dick Hill.

Enlightening

Absolutely love this book and can’t wait to hear the entire series. This is one of my favorite authors. The narrator did great. I don’t have much time to sit and read so to have a great narrator means a lot!!

One of Her Best...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I recommend this book. It is one of her best ones written, and I love the way she weaves faith into all of her stories, without being "preachy." This book was written about what may very well be a real-life scenario if we lost electricity for long periods of time. Excellent read! Couldn't put it down!

Average book

Liked story okay but found it too lengthy for the content. The first part of the book in particular drag.

Love the story, not a fan of the narration.

Terri Blackstock never disappoints. All her stories are Christ centered which is important to me. This story is very timely in that our world has become so infused with tech, most people would be lost without it-not just in an entertainment aspect, but also with our infrastructure. This book brings that to the fore-front of the story and the characters are filled out and real. I am anxious to hear the rest of the series and will get to them as soon as possible.
Now to the part of this audible book that I did not like. I was totally unimpressed with Dick Hill's narration of this book. He did not have any difference in the various character's voices, so it was difficult to figure out who was talking. Perhaps he would be better suited to a different type of novel, but I must say that I will avoid books narrated by him in the future.
Other than that, I would highly recommend this audio book to all my friends and family.
Thank you, Terry Blackstock for another inspiring book.

Skeptical, Awesome

I was very skeptical as i read a lot of end time books. This is Christian based but it is SOOO good, I cried at the end

On to the next one

I enjoyed this series many years ago when I happened upon the kindle book series. When I saw the audio version I had to listen to this gem.

Absolutely loved it!

At first, the kids annoyed me, it’s part of the plot push past it, it gets so good! This author mixed suspense, end times, romance, murder, the whole bit into one book while reminding us what’s truly important!! Great job! I’m buying the next one in the series!
