Lanmo

If you could sum up Lanmò in three words, what would they be?

Racism, Voodoo, and Vengence

Any additional comments?

Sad to thing that such hate exists in our society. Really hard to listen to the torture and murder at the beginning of the book. I received this audiobook for free through Audiobook Boom for my unbiased review.

Revenge

I really enjoyed this short creepy story. It contains gory torture that took place in the 60’s of a college student (John) by police (Klansman) then comes the supernatural payback ending which I loved. Highly recommend to anyone on who likes history and horror/gore. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator. Thank You!

Dark and Terrifying

Any additional comments?

It was a dark, terrifying book that awakens us to the seriousness of racism. The narration was good. Not for the faint of heart.

A dark story of a dark time

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes because it is a great yet gory and dark tale of a time and place where horrible injustices occurred yet there is a form of supernatural justice in the end. Steel yourself for the beginning of the story as it is disturbing. Once past that it is a mesmerizing story. The narration is on point for the story and performed exceptionally well. Somewhat bloody and real yet a must listen in my opinion. If you like horror and supernatural retribution you will not be able to stop listening. Very Intense (RACISM)

Any additional comments?

It's been a while since listening to something made me physically ill. The beginning of this story is extremely difficult to listen to. In fact, I had to stop what I was doing (laundry) to sit down so that I could actually handle it. If you are sensitive to racism, this book is not for you (even though there is redemption involved). The bigotry and hate in this story is a real stain on the United States, really happened and still happens. It's truly and utterly horrifying.

That said, if you can get through the disgusting racists you will get to enjoy some really satisfying payback of the paranormal variety. And who doesn't like seeing a racist get what's coming to them?! The redemption almost outweighs the beginning but I am sensitive to this kind of thing and it really got to me for a few days. So, it's a great story but again, if you're sensitive to extreme racism I would avoid this book as it will make you hopping mad and (if you're like me) might worm it's way into your brain for too long and remind you how terrible people can be.

A Gruesome, Emotional Horror Story

During the civil rights movement in 1964 Mississippi, college student John Turner, is doing what he can for negro voter’s rights. With one more stop left on his route of groups of people to speak to, John is intercepted and stopped for driving while black by the local police. There really isn’t any more that needs to be said, other than author Thomas S. Flowers has written an excellent, short, supernatural horror story that’s given great narration by Adrean Rivers. “Lanmò: A Tale of Southern Horror” is definitely worth your time.

Finally, his audio book was provided by the author at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audio Book Boom.

Great Southern Zombie

This is the third book by Thomas S Flowers that I have listened to and he is slowly becoming one of my favorites. His short stories are quick and fun with no unnecessary backstory.
This one has just the right blend of supernatural fun with good gore and a story that hits the right nerve to make you root for the supernatural being.
Great short story. Very much looking forward to more in the future
