Publisher's summary

The birth of Jesus has been well chronicled, as have his glorious teachings, acts, and divine sacrifice after his 30th birthday. But no one knows about the early life of the Son of God, the missing years - except Biff, the Messiah's best bud, who has been resurrected to tell the story in this divinely hilarious yet heartfelt work, "reminiscent of Vonnegut and Douglas Adams" ( Philadelphia Inquirer).

Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

Critic reviews

"Moore...gets style points for his wild imagination as Biff recalls his journey with Jesus...into and out of the clutches of Balthasar, then into a Buddhist monastery in China and finally off to India, where they dabble in the spiritual and erotic aspects of Hinduism. The author gets more serious in his climax, offering a relatively straightforward, heartfelt account of the Passion and Christ's final days that includes an intriguing spin on how the Resurrection might have happened." (Publishers Weekly)
"An instant classic...terrific, funny, and poignant." (Rocky Mountain News)

Chris Moore does it again! Thoughtful, funny, and original. Also narrated with skill and verve.

Levi called Biff & a Christ I can believe in.

Thanks, Chris. for introducing me to Joshua Ben Joseph. I'll always see His smile & hear His laughter. He & Biff were just what I needed in my life. And this from a girl to tried suicide recently. Blessings on you.

Lighten up and have fun

I enjoyed this audio immensely! Witty and fun with respect for the basis of anyone's belief system. I was concerned by some of the less positive reviews but was pleasantly entertained by this listen.

Favorite audiobook of all time!

So it doesn't follow the Bible exactly, but no one does. So he without sin may cast the 1st stone.
I'm all in! Amazing take on the best story of all time.

Loved it!

Would you consider the audio edition of Lamb to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the printed version, so I'm unable to comment on that, however I thought Fisher Stevens did an excellent job portraying all the characters in true Christopher Moore style.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Biff. Who doesn't love the best friend :)

Which scene was your favorite?

There were many, but the one where Biff is trying to help Joshua live vicariously through him while in the stalls on their journey.

One of my favorites

This book is pure beauty. For the Christian and non this book paints Jesus in the light of a person you know. You get to watch him grow up accompanied with the humor of Christopher Moore. As a non believer, this is the type of book that makes me wish i had the desire to follow Christ. I love that it incorporates other religious practices as well. I've read it twice and listened to it on audible once and the story doesnt get old. Audible 20 Review Sweepstakes Entry

Top-notch

This was a great book to read, and the anrrator does full justice to it. OK, accented voices aside, he did a fantstic job with it. Well worth the investment.

Just irreverent enough not to be insulting. a perfect mix of humor and seriousness. The author has perfectly imagined Jesus the missing years.
