"The inner lives of the main characters and most of the supporting cast are well sketched." (Publishers Weekly)
I didn't know this book was set in Houston, but when I heard the names of familiar streets and parts of towns, I immediately perked up. This was an OUTSTANDING book that made me feel proud to call Houston home. Excellent plot, character development and visual clues. The language flowed effortlessly, making an enjoyable read. Kudos to the author.
Love books on tape! It's all about the narrators for me though. No matter how good the story, if the narrator doesn't cut it...
I guess I'm not liking books where someone is sittin' in jail. I just can't get into it and am going to see about getting my coin back.
I love to listen good books. African American urban literature is my favorite. I hope to see them in more BoGo and discount sales.
I loved the book!! I didn't anticipate the ending.. what a surprise. I like that there were different narrator's.. it breathed life into each character. . great listen! !

I've been an avid reader since I was a child. I love different types of writing styles and I am never afraid to try new authors.
I enjoyed listening to this book. The narrators gave life to the characters and I was on the tip of my toes then entire book. The ending was very surprising.
