Disappointing characters and story

What disappointed you about Lady Oracle?

I found the main character in this book to be shallow and self absorbed. It was very difficult for me to empathise with her and I did not understand many of the actions that she took. The main character is an author and there are parts in the book where she writes/reads the book she is currently working on. The books are costume gothics which I have no interest in at all and I found this a very annoying part of the novel as it interrupted the overall flow of the story. I kept listening hoping that the ending would tie the story together and allow me to finally understand the character, but it left me even more confused and very unsatisfied.

Would you ever listen to anything by Margaret Atwood again?

Based solely on this book it is unlikely that I would seek out Ms Atwood's books to listen to again.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance of this book was good.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was annoyed that the story kept getting 'interrupted' by irrelevant side stories and disappointed in the characters and ending.
