Publisher's summary

Knocked up by a Southern preacher, Keyshia is sent to live with her aunt in New York, but after a horrific act of violence, the timid young woman becomes ice-cold - turning tricks and finding comfort in a crack vial.

Clyde and his two brothers find themselves living with a family friend after their mother is shot by their own father - leaving her institutionalized and unable to communicate, and him behind bars. Clyde's older brother leads a decent life, working as a bank manager and trying to keep Clyde off the streets, but Clyde's younger bro is the coldest killer in Harlem and takes every opportunity to involve Clyde in his infamous robberies turned blood baths.

When Keyshia and Clyde meet, they are instantly drawn to each other. Forced to pay back a large sum of cash to one nasty Harlem kingpin or risk the lethal consequences, Keyshia and Clyde use their tight game and their loyalty to pull off the impossible. And when Clyde is falsely accused of a bank hit, Keyshia vows to stick by her man - no matter the cost.

Critic reviews

"Treasure Blue continues and solidifies his position as the true heir to Iceberg Slim and Donald Goines. A book full of gritty realism, violence, drug abuse, and hope; the book is simply off the damn hook!" (African American Literary Book Club)

This book was awesome,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Where does Keyshia and Clyde rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Keyshia and Clyde rank number one. I love a good urban/love story with a good ending.

What did you like best about this story?

The best part was when Keyshia got her life together for herself, her family and her man.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene where the mother came into the court room to testify for her sons, such a sad scene but yet happy scene.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would keep the same, such a great name for this book, nothing needs to be changed. I like the narrator Mirron Willis, but would love to have a female read the female parts.

Any additional comments?

I Iove this new author, audible need to add more of his books.

good listen

This was an enjoyable listen as far as content. The narrator did a good job. So good that I detested when Keyshia or anyone from the South had to speak. The deep country, broken english that was categorized as Geechee was tough to listen too. The author did a good job of giving the reader insight into the lives of the young couple and their pasts. There was one suprise twist in the last half of the book and alot of devasting developments in their young lives. This was a well-written story. I listened to it over the course of 3 days. My only other issue was I couldn't tell the timeframe that the story took place.

Love is amazing

What did you love best about Keyshia and Clyde?

Keyshia and Clyde show you that before you move forward you have to mend the past. Clyde had to face his unanswered questions and painful feels w/his dad and Keyshia had to face several childhood issues that injured emotionally and mentally, no matter how painful.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Keyshia and Clyde?

1) Clyde teaching Keyshia to use a firearm 2) Clyde facing his father 3) Keyshia voluntarily building a relationship w/her, future mother-in-law.

What about Mirron Willis’s performance did you like?

He gave each character so much definition. He truly puts so much life and energy into the narrating/story telling. Made me look for more of his work.

Who was the most memorable character of Keyshia and Clyde and why?

Clyde's mother, b/c during the story even when she didn't speak, she had you feel what she was going thru due to struggles w/ her past. Especially at the court she really came out and had you feel her anger which eventually prospered into joy.

Any additional comments?

Truly a life like story.
