Publisher's summary

In Jubal Sackett, the second generation of Louis L’Amour’s great American family pursues a destiny in the wilderness of a sprawling new land.

Jubal Sackett’s urge to explore drove him westward, and when a Natchez priest asks him to undertake a nearly impossible quest, Sackett ventures into the endless grassy plains the Indians call the Far Seeing Lands. He seeks a Natchez exploration party and its leader, Itchakomi. It is she who will rule her people when their aging chief dies, but first she must vanquish her rival, the arrogant warrior Kapata. Sackett’s quest will bring him danger from an implacable enemy...and show him a life - and a woman - worth dying for.

L’Amour is the best of storytellers!

I have read all of his books, not just once, but many times for many years. They are timeless and mesmerizing!

My favorite book

This is an incredible work of art wrapped in an audio book. Louis L'amour brings an air of intelligence and mystery to a story of a man who walks his own path. Jubal is a man who can stand as a role model for any man in any time.

Nice story

I so enjoy the writing style of L’Amour and the reading by John Curless. This was not a gunfighter story, but a wanderer from early in the 1800’s. This was well done. I enjoyed it.

My favorite Sackett story!

I really enjoyed the narrator for this book. His voices were very convincing, and his pronunciation drew me in to a time long ago.

This where I became a fan of the Sackett’s

I’ve read the entire series while stationed in Korea in the 80’s. Now I’m listening to the great performance by John Curless and revisiting the series again. John’s easy tone makes me hang to every word. Louis L’Amour needs rating besides there are not enough stars for him.
