Solid King Novem

Had never heard of this novel until I was doing research on ghosts and carnivals. pleasantly surprised by the back-to-basics King style and the small, character driven plot. As always it was a fun little thrill ride with all of the curves and jumps neatly laid out.

My only criticism is the missed opportunity to foreshadow the car trouble that happens at the end.

Not what I expected...MUCH better

I was burnt out on Stephen King. It seemed for awhile all his books were a bit of the same thing rehashed. This book was a very pleasant surprise. It was NOT a horror story. Yes, it had a ghost but she was not the center of the story. The women and her son are along with a very good murder plot. Excellent twists and turns. I had NO idea who the murder was until the very end. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite Stephen King books

A ghost story, an unlikely hero, and the backdrop of an amusement park from years past. I’ve listened to book three times and have enjoyed it each time. Uplifting, funny, and heartbreaking, and all in a short book that doesn’t try to be more than it is, just a great escape to a time and place that brings back memories for those of us who are old enough to remember, mixing in a good old fashioned ghost story with great characters. Stephen King is one of the best ever. The narrator does a great job as well, keeping the tone of the story as the author intended.

One of King’s best and mostly underrated

I loved this book so much more than I expected. It elicited a nostalgia in me I didn’t realize I missed. Michael Kelly NAILED IT; would love to see him narrarate more on audible.

Not what I was expecting but better

I thought this would be more of a ghost story than it was but it constantly kept me on my toes and the edge of my seat. I didn't expect to fight back tears on my way to work but enjoyed it all the same

Can’t get enough of these shorter stories!

Fantastic story and excellent narrator. Throughly enjoyed this. Recommend this one and another short SK book, ‘Later.’

A wonderful summer read.

I loved this book, you could have left out all the parts about the murder and I still would’ve grown to care deeply for these characters. A wonderful tail of summer youth, with some supernatural mysteries tied in.

Michael Kelly is the perfect narrator for this, his voice really helps add to the character.

Great read!

I absolutely loved this story! The characters were so well developed and felt incredibly real to me. The author's use of imagery was masterful and I felt as though I was right there in the story, experiencing everything alongside the characters. The narrator was fantastic! Their voice brought the story to life in a way that made it even more enjoyable to listen to. Overall, I highly recommend this story.
