Publisher's summary

"Joyland is a breathtaking, beautiful, heartbreaking book.... Even the most hardboiled readers will find themselves moved."
—Charles Ardai, Edgar- and Shamus Award-winning editor of Hard Case Crime.

Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever. Joyland is a brand-new novel and has never previously been published.

One of his better recent books.

By the end of this book, you'll be in love with all the characters, even the murderer. Some of King's recent books have felt like duty and are...Not great. Joyland is fantastic.

Fun short read

I had a great time with this book. Really enjoyed the the carnival background for the story and it was just the right amount of creepy. All the characters were interesting and I was hooked right to the end. Maybe the horror could have been dialed up a notch and the story could be a little longer. It finished too soon for me and I wasn't ready to leave Joyland yet.

Unusual story

Was an interesting book about carni life and mystery who done it serial killer along with the gentle story of a mother and dying young boy who is clairvoyant. Enjoyable but not a page turner

A Good Stephen King Story!

An excellent story by an excellent writer and read by an excellent narrator. One worth re-reading in the future. Thank you, Mr. King.

A Coming of age mystery

This is one of those stories that was so easy to listen to, it was like reliving a summer job with the added supernatural undertone.

I like that this was a more human story and the “scary” wasn’t what was driving the plot. King provides you with characters that grow on you without you realizing it.

Different from many of King's books. Very good

Slow-ish start but picks up steam. Good ending too, which isn't too common for King. Great characters.
