Audio-fiction ADDICT !
I finished this book in ONE take! This will tell you how much amazing that book is. It has all the elements of an excellent romance novel that I am used to from SEP and Anna Fields. Interesting story, attractive characters, and well written plot and dialogue.
I LOVED this book. It is one of the rare books that you listen yet you are dreading that it will end :(
Enjoy the listen contemporary romance fans :)
Say something about yourself!
I have recommended this book. I love sports and romance so this series is perfect. I've listened to all of the Chicago Stars series and enjoyed all of the books.
This is one of my favorite romances, and it sets the foundation for the whole Star series. Try to read the books in order because it really enhances the enjoyment for the series.
Dan and Phoebe's love story is so good that I find myself rereading this whole series. It is such luscious escape. The best part is each book is just as good as the previous one. S.E.P.'s writing is funny, heart warming with great characterization. If you like romances, this one is an all time winner. And the voice of
Anna Fields that was so much associated with S. E. P 's books so sadly has been quieted. Truly a great talent was lost when Ms. Fields tragically died.
I am a big fan of Susan Elizabeth Phillps. Found the first book just by chance and have loved four more since - this being #5. Funny, romantic and this one has a bit of of mystery to it too. I love that her books has real people and not all are rich, powerful and beautiful. Even those that are aren't perfect. If you like SEP books, especially those surrounding the "Chicago Stars", this is a real winner.
This could have been a lot better if it hadn't been so smutty - I read MMIYC and Natural Born Charmer and some other SEP books, which I remember liking - I then bought Fancy Pants and It Had To Be You, and was sorely disappointed. To read these seemed to me a definite and unexpected step into bodice ripper territory.
I was equally disappointed by the lack of wit I remember from other books by SEP. The story also seemed to be brewed on largely the same ingredients as at least two of her other books.
The narrator does a good job, as in the other books, but she will forever sound like someone a bit older than the main characters. I am not put off by it though.
After every SEP book, I always think "this was the best one ever". As far as I know, she has never written a so-so book -- they are all the terrific. Just thinking about some of the scenes she creates makes me laugh out loud.
I am not an avid reader. But, since finding books on CD, I can't get enough!! Susan Elizabeth Phillips is amazing. This is the second of her books I have "read" and I can't get enough. "It Had to be You" is a wonderful love story. I can't wait to download the next!!
