The intro is very unorthodox but the short stories are fairly well written. I wish there were fewer stories about vampires, but even these are original. The one where the cop doesn't know he's fighting a vampire is very entertaining (he thinks the guy is some kind of foppish nut). The author probably made a "Mistake" with the title. Aside from some puerile remarks in the intro, the book does not wallow at this level.
Nick Pollotta is a gem , and his work in it's myriad of forms (he has more pseudonyms than I can easily recall) is always fun . This collection of his early stories is a lot of fun and is a great way to kill an evening.
