The narrators voice and accent were wonderful, I think she enhanced the story with her charming accent. I think the audio offered extra added bonus with the narrator performance giving a different experience.

    Story
    "Trite, Predictable and Overplayed."
Would you try another book from Julie Cantrell and/or Luci Christian Bell?

I would hope not to. :/

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Anything else well written.

How could the performance have been better?

Performance is different from storyline, but still poor. As a Southern woman, I can tell you the reader was overplaying a canned dialect. It would be so much nicer if Audible would find better readers for their characters.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Into the Free?

Editor? I would have red-marked most of the characters half-expected, overplayed and trite traumatic experiences. Seemed to me to be a non-Southern writer's attempt at capturing a Tennessee Williams type storyline.... dramatic backdrop, included. Unless you've grown up in the deep South, you don't understand all the rich nuances that were being attempted to be written into this story. This author tried, yet failed miserably.

A heart wrenching story but with a twist of happiness. Looking forward to the sequel.

Have you listened to any of Luci Christian Bell’s other performances? How does this one compare?

It brought back memories of living in the south. Her voice was mesmerising and made me smile

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A times it made me want to cry but then Millie's' character was so loveable and strong it made me smile .
