Publisher's summary

Mile 81 meets "N." in this collaboration between Stephen King and Joe Hill.

As USA Today said of Stephen King's Mile 81: "Park and scream. Could there be any better place to set a horror story than an abandoned rest stop?" In the Tall Grass begins with a sister and brother who pull off to the side of the road after hearing a young boy crying for help from beyond the tall grass. Within minutes they are disoriented, in deeper than seems possible, and they've lost one another. The boy's cries are more and more desperate. What follows is a terrifying, entertaining, and masterfully told tale, as only Stephen King and Joe Hill can deliver.

Narrated very well

Would you consider the audio edition of In the Tall Grass to be better than the print version?

The narration was very well. If you are not able to read for yourself this is the way to go. However, reading for myself is always my preferrence

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

This was perfect the way it is

Which character – as performed by Stephen Lang – was your favorite?

unable to answer this question. It was equal in the characters

If you could rename In the Tall Grass, what would you call it?

What Did I Just Read??!!

Wow, just wow. I have enjoyed other Hill and King collaborations, especially considering that Hill is Kings son, and this was no exception. Short, creepy, and very well written.
This story had several WTF moments that surprised even me a veteran of Kings writing. Stephen Lang was phenomenal as usual; he has read some of Hills stuff and did well with those. My only complaint is that Lang doesnt do women very well, his voice is too gravelly. Over all it was well done and look forward to an actual novel written by these two.

This story is amazing!

I like this story a lot more than than A Face in a Crowd, which was at least a little confusing and at most not one of Kings best works.

This on the other hand is one of Kings best short stories. I love the flow from one point to the other, the style, insanity, and absurdness of it all. Its terrifying and unnerving.

Its so damn creative and well done. It brings reality into a the realm of the supernatural, which King does greatly in all of his works, but this one best of all.

I'm curious as to who is the real driving force here, King or his son Hill? It definitely has King's style, but if this is any hint at Hill;s style, I look forward to his future releases.

The narration is great to. The performance is great, but a good narration isn't just about how well one performance but also on how well received their voice is. This narrator has a very pleasant voice and fits very well into the story.

Lang's narration combined with King and Hill's wonderful writing really brought the story to life. More than a few times, I found my self laughing out load, amazed at how real the terror was.

This could really progress into an excellent novel, but that isn't to say it isn't the perfect length, because as much as I want more of it, I'd be lying if I didn't admit that making it a short story is part of what makes it so damn good.

Short yet creepy

Just what you’d expect from Stephen king. He gets you caring about the characters and then it gets scary and gross!

Great start...not much else

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I wouldn't recommend this book. I have always been a King fan and I've heard really good things about Joe Hill. I wanted to like it, but I couldn't.

Have you listened to any of Stephen Lang’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've never heard an audiobook read by Stephen Lang, but he does an excellent job--just not quite enough to save a mediocre story.
