Publisher's summary

Dane and Mandy, a popular magic act for 40 years, are tragically separated by a car wreck that claims Mandy’s life—or so everyone thinks. Even as Dane mourns and tries to rebuild his life without her, Mandy, supposedly dead, awakes in the present as the19-year-old she was in 1970. Distraught and disoriented in what to her is the future, she is confined to a mental ward until she discovers a magical ability to pass invisibly through time and space to escape. Alone in a strange world, she uses her mysterious powers to eke out a living, performing magic on the streets and in a quaint coffee shop.

Hoping to discover an exciting new talent, Dane ventures into the coffee shop and is transfixed by the magic he sees, illusions that even he, a seasoned professional, cannot explain. But more than anything, he is emotionally devastated by this teenager who has never met him, doesn’t know him, is certainly not in love with him, but is in every respect identical to the young beauty he first met and married some 40 years earlier.

They begin a furtive relationship as mentor and protégée, but even as Dane tries to sort out who she really is, and she tries to understand why she is drawn to him, they are watched by secretive interests who not only possess the answers to Mandy’s powers and misplacement in time but also the roguish ability to decide what will become of her.

Frank Peretti has crafted a rich, rewarding story of love and life, loss and restoration, full of twists and mystery. Exceptionally well written, Illusion will soon prove another Peretti classic.

Great Story. Hate for it to be over.

If you could sum up Illusion in three words, what would they be?

Suspensful, magical, addictive

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mandy definately.

Have you listened to any of Frank Peretti’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. This present darkness. Im listening to piercing the darkness now. Both of those books are Very Spititual, which is great. Illusion is definately a Christian novel, but it's not in Your face Spirituality. Great love Story.

Any additional comments?

Simply a wonderful book that I would recomend to anyone!!!

Excellent inspires introspection

Peretti has been a favorite author of mine since I read the "This Present ..." paring. Holding books while reading is painful and has slowed my consumption. So thankful for Audible. thanks for doing your own recording FP. I enjoyed it!

Best Peretti Yet

Frank Peretti essentially created the apocalyptic fiction genre. None of his titles fit neatly into existing boxes--each title is unique and can range from pure adventure to world-view-shaking insights into faith and relationships. "Illusion" is another genre-bending work that explores the power of love and faith to transcend time in a way that will mess with your mind--in a good way. Peretti's narrative of Mandy's magic acts allows us to share in the pure wonder she evokes even in herself. Each new illusion is more moving than the next and we are carried upward with the characters to a satisfying finale. Most authors are not good narrators for audio books, but Peretti is enough of a ham to pull it off well.

Captivating

Narrator did a great job. A love story with the love and trust of God tied in. Ends with a happy ending.

Wonderful plot that will keep you listening!

I am a Frank Peretti fan from way back, but I have to say that this is his best writing.

Illusion is a story of mystery and the human condition. It will keep you listening and you will sink into another time and space to feel the story of these magicians. It is a well developed story with an unlikely narrator.

I do wish that Mr. Peretti would let someone else do the audio. I believe that someone more practiced in this field would bring much more to the story, but don't let this deter you from the book. It is most definitely worth hearing or reading.
