Publisher's summary

The saga of love, loyalty, and crime continues....

After the tragic and bloody end to The Cartel's reign, Carter is forced into isolation to evade the law. With his wife, Miamor, facing federal charges and his dear brother six feet under, Carter has never been more alone. His empire is at his feet, and he has no idea how to rebuild his kingdom. The only thing that is certain is that he has to stay out of the way and off the radar of the feds until he can figure out how to get his lady out of prison.

Miamor's freedom is guaranteed - provided Carter helps create and distribute a drug that will take the streets by storm. Rubbing elbows with the most notorious, ruthless leaders of the underworld will get him what he wants. But can he win at their game of murder and money?

Sitting on the Wall with this

I am the biggest Cartel fan, but I am disappointed in this book. First of all the narration was good I do like his voice, but I wanted Cary Hite. His Aries voice sounded more hispanic than island girl. So I was a little disappointed in the narration just for this selection. He would be great narrating a EJD book. I am not really impressed with the direction of this book either. I am still trying to sort through the plot that was going on in the Illuminati I guess I really didn't understand what happened. I don't feel like this book really was about the Illuminati anyways, it was still focused on the life of the characters we learned to love and hate. I was looking for Baron Montegomery throughout the Illuminati scenes based on one of the other books, but he is no where to be found. I will be looking out for the Cartel 8 but I really wasn't impressed with this particular book. Go ahead and give it a read and catch up so that you will be ready for the Cartel 8 you will be surprised by who dies and the scene that led up to it. Just a 3 star read for me.

This story would be best ended here.

The story wasn't bad but...Sigh. I wanted so much to love this book like I did the rest of the series but it just didn't deliver. They didn't spend as must time as I thought they would on the whole illuminati roundtable of bosses part of the story as I thought they would. It is the title of the book after all. I agree with other reviews that every story isn't going to have a happy ending but the way this story played out just didn't make sense and left me feeling like....after all they've been through this is how it's going to play out? Readers don't always want a dose of reality, that's why some of us listen to stories, to get an escape. When the narrator said to be continued at the end had me thinking oh no please don't! This book was also lacking that thrill, the twists and turns in a story that keep you sitting on the edge of your seat. The authors are good, but with most of the Diamond family dead they will have to bring them back from the grave in order to resurrect the story. Just my opinion.

Why Stretch the story for profit🤔

The writers made this story to see a profit from the readers. Storyplot was stretched nothing happened but a few major things. Its like watching your favorite tv show and waiting for something to happen and you watched 9 episodes still no action. Besides this book being sad it could of been a 8-10 chapter book.

Narrator was horrible

He did bring life to the characters. Please have Cary Hite read the next book. He bring life to characters. The book was really good.

Disappointed but ok

I waited so long for this book. I hate that it wasn't read by Gary Hite I have come to love his voice....this book for me was to short they could have kept the same plot but did this one and the next together.... I hate that we didn't hear more bout these bosses and the drug too many unanswered questions for me but still can't wait for the next one

Really good, but not enough follow through...

I have questions .The story begins talking about the illuminati being formed. All the big players are there....and then they're not. New product discussed, then nothing. Not happy about certain characters leaving, but overall, a good book. just too short.
