Publisher's Summary

From the acclaimed New York Times best-selling author of If I Can’t Have You and Darius Jones comes a new novel as sexy and riveting as the best of Zane and Eric Jerome Dickey.

Nursing wealthy businessman Chicago DuBois back to health was the least Loretta Lovelace figured she could do. After all, it was her bet that set off Loretta’s stalker - and put Madison’s husband at death’s door. And with Madison out of the country, Loretta couldn’t resist looking after Chicago’s interests and reigniting his passion for life - in and out of bed. But now Madison wants to take back what’s no longer hers, and that’s a mistake Loretta plans to make her regret.

With a baby on the way and a family empire to save, Madison knows it’s past time to make some tough decisions. But for this spoiled beauty, treacherous habits die hard, and the sexy billionaire who just can’t get enough of her is the weapon she needs to escape scandal and settle old scores. Too bad her newest play will put her in way over her head, and making things right will mean gambling with everything she wants most.

    "Just Ok. Ameture writing"

Mary's debute writtings were WONDERFUL, mature, and erotic. This series is soooo unrealstic. Many characters but not one you can root for fully. Whinny women, weak rich men, no champions, fake friendships. What man will let his girl live with his brother? What friend allows another woman to sleep under her husbands roof and not do anything about it. Over it. I usually like Cary Hite but he made all the characters sound like they had special needs.

    "DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    REVAMPING THE ENTIRE STORY!

Would you ever listen to anything by Mary B. Morrison again?

    SURE

What didn’t you like about Cary Hite’s performance?

I normally love Cary Hite's performances, but this book was his worst!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from I’d Rather Be with You?

I would re-write the entire story!

    Any additional comments?

I wish they would have taken their time and written a quality sequel!

    "This sequel is awful.........................."
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I just think this book was rushed. I love the first part which was "If I can't have you" This was just awful. I was looking for more and realism.

What was most disappointing about Mary B. Morrison’s story?

The lives of all the characters was overdone and unreal. I can't stand the hospital scene. Since when in real life, you have all those people in the labor room and a tv crew.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

You could not tell the difference from the women to the men. I love Cary Hite, but the only voice I think he did good on in this story is Roosevelt and Granville.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger and disappointment. I don't think she can redeem herself from this one.

"Enjoy the good life while you can"

I enjoyed the first book but this one was pretty good too and answered a lot of my questions that I needed answered and at the end you get to find out who the baby daddy is.  Loretta got on my nerves in this book though her love for Chicago comes full force and she feels like she is the wife which is where the last book ends.  That Damn Granville is still cray cray though and in love with Madison and waiting for the baby to come so he can do his fatherly duties and live and marry Madison. But can he do it from behind bars and will Madison accept him?  Which one do you think is the daddy CHICAGO or GRANVILLE? Guess you have to read in order to find out.  One thing I learned is that you can be in love with someone but don’t let that person keep a hold on you that makes you disrespect your expectation set for the one you love.  Forgiveness is something you have to truly earn and you only deserve that if you are truly remorseful and it will take time to get it.  This was a good read and the Narrator was very strong and keeps you interested.  Good job HoneyB!

    "What Happened?!!!"
If you could sum up I’d Rather Be with You in three words, what would they be?

    It was okay.

Would you recommend I’d Rather Be with You to your friends? Why or why not?

Only is they had aleadry read "If I Can't Have You".
This book is not the best stand alone title in fact if not for me reading the first book I may not have finished this one because the beginning was not very good to me. However I must say that it did get better over time.

What aspect of Cary Hite’s performance would you have changed?

Cary is a good narrator but they should have gotten someone else to do the female characters. Especially after having the previous book done that way and developing southern belle voices. There was no way Cary could make that happen.

If you could rename I’d Rather Be with You, what would you call it?

    Loretta Loses Her Mind

    Any additional comments?

When the book first started I was like what the hell?! but of course I have to finish it since I am already invested and it did get better. I didn't care for the way the Loretta charcter turned out because the way she was initially presented just did not show even one inkling of the person she ultimately became. Overall at the beginning I thought aww this isnt so good but it did get better. Also, there were things like Grandville gets 50 years but in the next breath he is running around town. I'm not sure what is going on but nevetheless since I have already started this series I will continue. There is still a chance that the next one will be better or just as good as the first one.

What did you love best about I’d Rather Be with You?

Even thou Gainesville yearned for Madison, he couldn't stop showing his addiction for Lorita

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gainesville, he is one of the dumbest, smartest characters I've ever seen.

What does Cary Hite bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He brings the character to reality/life. You would think you're talking to the person who is telling their side of things at that moment.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No doubt

    "Shamefully Disappointing...."
Would you try another book from Mary B. Morrison and/or Cary Hite?

    Not SURE!!!

What was most disappointing about Mary B. Morrison’s story?

The Characters... There was no development/growth of her characters. As the listener, there was no character to feel either sorry/happy for... none you wanted to love/hate... they all fell flat.

How could the performance have been better?

Maybe use a different Narrator but its hard to say the writing was pretty bad.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from I’d Rather Be with You?

To be honest as editor, I would throw this book in the trash.

    Any additional comments?

Mary B. Morrison was the first author whose book signing I attended, which for me makes this author a little more special than all others due to the memory of our first encounter. The book signing was at a little bookstore I frequented in Inglewood California coincidently; I had strolled in just in time to hear Ms. Morrison read from Soul Mates Dissipate, her interaction with her audience was so awesome that she made new fans that day including myself immediately, I began reading "most" of her books that followed… (That said, writing this review is a bit difficult but I have to be honest). This book however, was so frustrating at times; it took me months to listen. I kept putting it down as the characters became more and more childlike. Not knowing whether the problem was the narrator Cary Hirt and wanting to give the story a real chance since I was using Audible and not actually reading the book myself, the only thing to do I felt was to get the actual book and read using my own imagination but alas, to no avail it was the writing… the book felt rushed, the story was so mediocre it felt like a 12-yr-old with a dirty mouth wrote the story. I am so sorry Mary but you disappointed me on this one. Save your money/credits skip this one!!!
