Publisher's summary

The beloved Fannie Flagg is back and at her irresistible and hilarious best in I Still Dream About You, a comic mystery romp through the streets of Birmingham, Alabama, past, present, and future.

Meet Maggie Fortenberry, a still beautiful former Miss Alabama. To others, Maggie’s life seems practically perfect - she’s lovely, charming, and a successful real-estate agent at Red Mountain Realty. Still, Maggie can’t help but wonder how she wound up in her present condition. She had been on her hopeful way to becoming Miss America and realizing her childhood dream of someday living in one of the elegant old homes on top of Red Mountain, with the adoring husband and the 2.5 children, but then something unexpected happened and changed everything.

Maggie graduated at the top of her class at charm school, can fold a napkin in more than 48 different ways, and can enter and exit a car gracefully, but all the finesse in the world cannot help her now. Since the legendary real-estate dynamo Hazel Whisenknott, beloved founder of Red Mountain Realty, died five years ago, business has gone from bad to worse - and the future isn’t looking much better. But just when things seem completely hopeless, Maggie suddenly comes up with the perfect plan to solve it all.

Very nice. Started a bit slow. Great after that.

It fits into a unique niche.

What a writer, what a story!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I loved the way this book evolved, right away I was taken by the lead character and her personality, her friends, her life, her challenges with aging and how she came upon a plan to "deal" with it all. I would recommend this because it is entertaining and thought provoking . Just shows how life keeps changing and we need to hang on because just around that next corner something might be coming. Good, bad, indifferent... all in how we look at it. That Fannie Flagg can write. And I find her voice comforting.

What other book might you compare I Still Dream About You to and why?

I also loved "Standing in the Rainbow" also written and read by Fannie Flagg. Down to Earth and Heavenly at the very same time, just a lovely story. Uplifting and sweet but not too sweet.

If you could rename I Still Dream About You, what would you call it?

Just Around the Corner.

Any additional comments?

Well, I loved it and I think if you need a good read to listen to by a reader who seems to be a best friend, kind person and funny to boot give this book a whirl... you will love it.

Love this book!

The only thing wrong with this book is that I have already finished it. Full characters, great dialogue, and a great setting.

Touching & Hilarious

What made the experience of listening to I Still Dream About You the most enjoyable?

Read by the author, the intonation, comedic pause and sentiment in the character voices really makes the story come to life! Being in Real Estate I enjoyed the true to life storyline and the exaggerated capers that the author threw in for fun!

Funny, full of hope

It is the very best of flegg's books: funny, full of hope, well written and read, a little unrealistic, but still a great tale.

Not one of her best but still enjoyable

I love Fanny Flagg books. I love her characters and this book reinforces her strength in making us care about the people in her books. I'll admit it is slow to develop and I'd like her to push the plot along but the pace suits the age and desposition of the characters.

The narration by Fanny Flagg is delightful because once again it suits our protagonist. If you long for riotous laughs, gripping high drama or action don't select this book. It is, however, a perfect listen after a hard and busy day to help you ease into the evening.
