Publisher's summary

The beloved Fannie Flagg is back and at her irresistible and hilarious best in I Still Dream About You, a comic mystery romp through the streets of Birmingham, Alabama, past, present, and future.

Meet Maggie Fortenberry, a still beautiful former Miss Alabama. To others, Maggie’s life seems practically perfect - she’s lovely, charming, and a successful real-estate agent at Red Mountain Realty. Still, Maggie can’t help but wonder how she wound up in her present condition. She had been on her hopeful way to becoming Miss America and realizing her childhood dream of someday living in one of the elegant old homes on top of Red Mountain, with the adoring husband and the 2.5 children, but then something unexpected happened and changed everything.

Maggie graduated at the top of her class at charm school, can fold a napkin in more than 48 different ways, and can enter and exit a car gracefully, but all the finesse in the world cannot help her now. Since the legendary real-estate dynamo Hazel Whisenknott, beloved founder of Red Mountain Realty, died five years ago, business has gone from bad to worse - and the future isn’t looking much better. But just when things seem completely hopeless, Maggie suddenly comes up with the perfect plan to solve it all.

Thank you

How can a story about someone at the end of the rope be entertaining? With the wonderful characters and a walk through the south, it kept me wanting to see what's next. It helped me to be grateful for every day and everything. We'll done Fannie, just what I needed.

A delightful story - - beautifully narrated

A sweet story with subtle but extremely moving emotional peaks - - Fannie Flagg tells tales about real people from real places with real emotions and honest humor. Add to that the charm and talent of Flagg as a narrator and you have a pitch perfect tale of the modern South and the quirky but proud women who grew up there.

I am not even finished yet and still I love it!!!

As I love a wide variety of audiobooks, I just completed Mr. King's newest and was chilled to the bone. What a sweet relief, like coming out of the darkest of nights to the most beautiful dawn, was the transition from that to Fannie's latest. I fell in love with Fannie's style with "Fried Green Tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe", and adored every single book she has ever written! This one is as delightful as always and different and exciting as well. Fannie, I LOVE YOU!!!

A bit slow

Overall good - not great. Started slow, liked the late middle to ending much more than most of the beginning. Was not a fan of the narrator.

I have really gotten some wondeeful laughs. Fannie Flagg is a great writer who takes you right into the setting you can see all of the characters in your mind's eye. Thanks for a great break from this crazy world in which we live.

A Light Southern Read

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

While no great work of literature, the story was entertaining enough to pass the time during my commute. This was a selection of my book club, and if it had not been, I would probably not have read it. It's a little too light and silly for my taste.

Would you ever listen to anything by Fannie Flagg again?

Possibly, if I was in the mood for something frivolous and light.

How could the performance have been better?

I was actually disappointed in the performance by Ms. Flagg. I expected a very polished and professional performance considering the fact that she is an actor. However, I found the delivery flat and the fact that she struggled to pronounce the name of one of her characters, Babs Bingington, was very off putting.

Could you see I Still Dream About You being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Probably not.

Another Enjoyable Fannie Flagg listen

Where does I Still Dream About You rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks high - it's one of those "enjoy-while-I listen-but-kind-of-forget-about-the-details-shortly-after" type book, though.

What was one of the most memorable moments of I Still Dream About You?

Like I said...I'm reviewing this about two weeks post listen and I can't remember a lot - that doesn't necessarily reflect the book - maybe me???

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes - enjoyed - easy listening and like her as a narrator. It's kind of like a soft listen if that makes sense.
