I Do Solemnly Swear | [D. M. Annechino]

I Do Solemnly Swear

As second in command, Katherine Ann Miles understands the responsibilities of her role as vice president. But when the president of the United States dies from a heart attack only eight months into his term, Katherine feels utterly unprepared to assume the highest office in the land. Yet the new president has little time to dwell on the battles raging with Congress and within her own marriage: Iran is making pointed, grave threats toward Israel, and she will have to employ all her skills and diplomacy to avert a major military conflict.

Yet the new president has little time to dwell on the battles raging with Congress and within her own marriage: Iran is making pointed, grave threats toward Israel, and she will have to employ all her skills and diplomacy to avert a major military conflict. But just as the crisis heats up, clues emerge, suggesting that her beloved predecessor was assassinated and whoever wanted him dead is out to get her as well - closer than she realizes.

    "Pretty bad"

Awful, amateurish political "thriller" about first US woman president. Far fetched story of president who is poisoned, women VP takes over his role (and calls her father a lot on the phone) and then attempts are made on her life so that the Aryan Brotherhood can overthrow the government. Lots of action takes place in a bathroom. I'm not kidding. The breathless narrator recants this absurd tale. No thanks!

"Ridiculous characterization of a career woman"
Would you try another book from D. M. Annechino and/or Tanya Eby?

Totally unrealistic in some of the portrayals of the workings of the US gov't.
I was considering 3 stars until the Epilogue where the protagonist, the President, laments the ticking of her biological clock and decides she will have a baby with or without a husband.
    Ridiculous!”

The narrator was a tad cloying.

What do you think your next listen will be?

My. TBR is large and the accompanying echoes (audible companion books) numerous.

Would you be willing to try another one of Tanya Eby’s performances?

    Not without checking reviews

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from I Do Solemnly Swear?

    The epilogue.
But there were many other scenes that needed strengthening and a bit of research into the workings of the US government.
