Jen, a young widow floundering in the storm of mourning, whose only lifeline is her humdrum job, is tossed into a maze of deceit and intrigue. A coworker named Tom - at the request of her late husband, or so Tom says - kidnaps her and fakes her death to keep her safe from the cartel who he thinks caused her husband's "accident."
Together they are thrust into a tempest of danger and deceit where no one is whom they claim to be. The list of people Jen can believe in keeps diminishing. Who can she trust while dodging the Feds, human traffickers. and the press who've discovered she's alive? How will Jen rescue the two held-captive girls she befriends without drowning them, Tom, and herself in the waves of betrayal, especially when she's begun to suspect her husband may not be as dead as everyone thinks?

I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
If it was edited...the clicking at the end of parts...and the rough recording in certain places was really irritating....
I am sure there are other books out there about this subject...but I have not listened to them yet...
She does...she gave a good performance...I would give her a B-
No, it too long and drawn out...not a bad book at all, its a good book...just could have been condensed a bit...and for a strong female character Jen is also weak...at times I was like...REALLY?
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
First off, I want to say I really like a good christian story...I like when people have faith...I like when people find there way back to faith...and this had that!
Jen thinks her husbands dead, and is grieving for him...then all of a sudden she gets wrapped up in this crazy dangerous world...she is kidnapped, drugged, and introduced to the dirty truth...Her husband was not a good man...she is in grave danger and the man who is trying to help her is someone she is not sure she can trust....she turns to God again finally and eventually gets through this...and is actually rewarded in the end in my opinion...This was a good story, decent narration and I liked the happy ending!

It isn't my genre, so it's the only reason it doesn't rank high.
I liked the wholesome relationship of the main character and Tom/Travis.
I thought she brought the main character to life and gave her a realist voice. She made me believe that the author was telling the story.
Yes, the ending with the baby and Tom waving to the heroin.
In part two, I thought more research on hospital procedure was needed. There was no routine TPR or blood/urine analysis taken when main character was brought to the hospital after she escaped. Also there rape kit present even though it wasn't needed.
No spoilers! Love HOT, sexy books w/a plot. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. I also review in exchange for books-lots of fun surprises!
The first couple of chapters, while action-packed, were not something that grabbed me. However, I kept listening and the book was really good overall. *I agreed to listen to it in exchange for a review. There were minor details that did not always reflect the truth of what the situation would be in reality. One example is the whole time that Jen was "in danger" her "protectors" used her home base (her house) for her to live in, drop her off, etc. Minor things like that, I just had to skim over and continue to listen.
I must say that the end was kind of messy. Some of my suspicions were tied up, but other things, like her religious views on certain subjects (I cannot say anything more without giving without spoiling), did not make sense. Some of the other characters and situations were sort of resolved but a few sentences later things happened that should not have been able to.
So, that's my review of the book. I try really hard not to spoil so the review may be more confusing than helpful. I believe the author is very good and I apologize for the garbled review.
I enjoyed the narration very much. Ex is skilled and professional. I did not find myself listening to her, I found myself listening to the story, which is one of the highest compliments.
Without seeing the book on paper, I'm not sure if it is divided into chapters or not. However, in the recording there was a bit of a clicking noise every so often, seemingly in the area where a new chapter would be announced. That was new and I'm not sure if if I like it or not.
Notes: Some violence and talk of great
Overall, 4 stars, Narration 4 stars and story is about 3 1/2 stars – it could've been higher but for the ending that was confusing to me.
Please consider "following me" here on Audible.com. I purchased a lot of books by authors that I am faithful to. I also have the opportunity to review books in all genres, many that I would not pick up on my own. I have been pleasantly surprised by new authors and narrators. Thanks!
I enjoy leaving reviews, as I know that I read them the reviews of others before I purchase a book. If you found my review helpful in your decision about this book, would you please select yes directly below this paragraph? Thank you so much.
There was a great mix of everything in this book. There are twists around every corner and i couldn't stop listening to this one. I will definitely be looking for more by this author.
Right from the start, this audiobook keeps me guessing. The heroine, Jen, is mourning the death of her husband when she's kidnapped and held i by a guy who claims to have worked with her husband. It's a tangled web to unravel that leads into human sex trafficking. You will learn a lot about this issue f, and see it's devastating effects.
