Publisher's summary

Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning with a thunderous hangover, a raging headache, and a pair of horns growing from his temples. At first, Ig thought the horns were a hallucination, the product of a mind damaged by rage and grief. He had spent the last year in a lonely, private purgatory, following the death of his beloved, Merrin Williams, who was raped and murdered under inexplicable circumstances. A mental breakdown would have been the most natural thing in the world. But there was nothing natural about the horns, which were all too real.

Once the righteous Ig had enjoyed the life of the blessed: born into privilege, the second son of a renowned musician and younger brother of a rising late-night TV star, he had security, wealth, and a place in his community. Ig had it all, and more—he had Merrin and a love founded on shared daydreams, mutual daring, and unlikely midsummer magic. But Merrin's death damned all that. The only suspect in the crime, Ig was never charged or tried. And he was never cleared. In the court of public opinion in Gideon, New Hampshire, Ig is and always will be guilty because his rich and connected parents pulled strings to make the investigation go away. Nothing Ig can do, nothing he can say, matters. Everyone, it seems, including God, has abandoned him. Everyone, that is, but the devil inside.

Now Ig is possessed of a terrible new power to go with his terrible new look—a macabre talent he intends to use to find the monster who killed Merrin and destroyed his life. Being good and praying for the best got him nowhere. It's time for a little revenge. It's time the devil had his due.

Outstanding!

A dark superhero-like story. Think "Lucifer* meets *The Crow*. There are few books I consider truly 5-star-woethy and this is one of them! Joe Hill is truly his father's son.

Wasn't sold at first but it gets good, really good

As I said at first it starts off shaky or confusing and I wasn't sure I was going to finish the listen but towards the middle book gets really good and I got into it and enjoy the listen to the end. I'm very happy with this purchase

Joe Hill Gave His Dad a Run for His Money!

Well folks, Joe Hill has done it again, providing a novel that sounds like it will be stupid, but in fact, blows me away!! I don't know if there's something in the water in Maine or what, but the king family from Joe and Owen, to Stephen and his wife, Tabitha, it's strange when an entire family can become famous and be gifted with an incredible Talent to write horror! Each with their own individual writing styles, nobody copying off of the master of Horror, Stephen King, again, it just blows me away! I believe that for an audiobook To Be well received, there must be a skilled narrator involved. Otherwise, it could be the best book in the world, but that won't matter if you can't stand listening to it. So far, I've never had that problem reading anything from The King Family! They are, without a doubt, the true definition of what a great writer should be... Buy this book, you'll love it, especially if you like reading Joe Hill...

A Personal Favorite

Horns is an amazing story with a good narrator. I suggest reading this on your own if you have the time, however, as there are some parts where the narrator uses a different tone that personally intended. Though this is nit-picking and Horns is absolutely worth a read or listen.

Wow, glad someone recommended this to me

This books hits right in the feels over, and over, and over. I was hooked by the end of chapter two and I will without a doubt say that this is a book everyone should read. It resonates with the core human emotions and urges that we all face. It feels as though the book is meant to motivate you to be a better person

Read with the lights on

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this audio to someone because it was so well written. I was really freaked out most of the time and I even had to stop reading at bedtime! Unheard of for me as I am a lover of the horror genre and can normally hang with the best of em. This book just hit me in a place I haven't gone before. Like cold in the pit of your stomach, you've heard of it but probably have never actually felt.
I was on the edge of my seat at some points, heart thumping, gripping the arms of my chair. Then slumped down, defeated almost in tears at others. Whadda ride!

Which character – as performed by Fred Berman – was your favorite?

Fred Berman did a fantastic job on all the characters. He is now my favorite narrator after hearing his work on Horns. I think that he really shined by being able to make all the female characters sound different from each other. Giving them their own actual "self" in the book and not just another high pitched generic female voice.

If you could rename Horns, what would you call it?

Now You See Me

Any additional comments?

I'm going to buy the book because it has to be in my library right next to Saul,King, and Koontz.

brilliant and twisted

I came to this book without expectationsand was wowed. It is dark for its own sake but brilliant in so many manors as well. I think it is genius but would struggle to find who I would recommend it to. The authors almost poetic dives into dark parts of humanity being something only a certain audience could enioy.

Okay story, great narration

The story was okay. It seemed incomplete. I enjoyed the narration, though. I am looking forward to hearing another story from this narrator.
