Before the beach hut...there was Honeycote.
The Liddiard family have lived in Honeycote for generations. But that just might be changing....
Mickey Liddiard adores his wife, Lucy - so why he is cheating on her with Kay? James Liddiard has been in love with Lucy for years. So when he discovers Mickey is being unfaithful, could this be his opportunity? Kay is most definitely not happily married - it was the money which first attracted her to her husband. But now, could Mickey hold the key to her heart and her happiness?
In the seemingly idyllic village of Honeycote, ambition, greed and revenge lurk just beneath the perfect landscape....

The storyline was incredibly predictable, not the best of Veronica Henry's work. Within the first hour of listening you will know the ending.
due to some many characters I found it difficult to keep up with who was who. good story thought
Continuous couplings in a weak storyline. I consider it an insult to an intelligent listener
"Veronica does it again"
Don't think so but only as there are so many other book to enjoy
The impression the description of Honeycote house left
Laurence's wife, can't remember her name!!!
The end, Flora
"An interesting story full of deciet"
Initially the changes in stories confused me, then it all unravelled. a good listen.
"Great story, grabbed my attention from beginning t"
Sorry it's finished.
A story about family life, good characters with interesting backgrounds
Lucy, but all the characters are interesting and turn out differently from what you presume them to be in the beginning
Yes it was unlike others I have read recently, I listened to it. Over a period of about 48 hours.
The narrator has a very relaxing voice, easy to listen to. The story keeps you wanting to know what happens next, it is one of those books that leaves you wanting more even when you have finished it.
"A nice winter story"
I like to snuggle up with a book during the Christmas holidays and that how I ended up picking Honeycote. I really liked it, someone remarked they thought it was clear from the first chapters where the story would lead but I don't agree, there were many small storylines and plots. If you like the Beach Hut you'll probably like this although it leaves a little more open endings.
The one thing I did thought strange were some very explicit sexual descriptions which I suppose could put some readers off but they are not very frequent.
Not Henry's best work but enjoyable nonetheless.
"Enjoyable family saga"
I enjoy family sagas with interesting characters - and Honeycote is definitely one of my favourites. It was a story that I wasn't ready to finish - I wanted to continue finding out about the lives of the 'people' I got to know!
I liked Lucy and James - there was more softness with them than most of the other adults!
Rachel read the story well and her intonation made it easy to understand that characters and their motivation
Well worth reading/listening to!
"Had to ear it twice."
I heard better narrators. She made things difficult to understand. Normally I get comfy with the voice after a wile not this time.
