Publisher's summary

Melanie runs away.

From conflict. From pain. From reality.

When novelist Melanie Vander faces a looming deadline, she decides it's time for an escape to an inspiring, novel-worthy locale. She's not running away. Really. She just needs time to focus. But as she disappears into her writing, she encounters a man whose tenderness leaves her reeling.

Engaging and wise, psychologist Elliot Hammond tempts Melanie to question everything, including her marriage.

But that's ridiculous. Dr. Hammond isn't even...real.

Melanie's husband, Craig, has his own problems, including a recession that's threatening his business. Waning finances, a looming home foreclosure, and a wife who's checked out emotionally have Craig feeling as though he's carrying his burdens alone. When his client, the beautiful and single Serena Buchanan, offers him a fix to his financial woes, he's tempted by more than her offer of a business solution.

At a crossroads, Melanie and Craig seem headed in opposite directions.

Will Melanie run again? Or will she allow her characters to lead her home?

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. (Ecclesiastes 3:11, NIV)

Entertaining, thoughtful, well written story

I love to getting to know the characters in the story. Each one had difficulties to deal with. I liked how there were spiritual elements and wouldn’t have minded even more. The author shows What strong marriages are like even through difficulties.

Real people going through real life troubles

This was a warm and funny book that took an unusual look at peoples' troubles Is the writer falling in love with her handsome lead character? Confusing fiction with failures of life? A real book with real characters reflecting all the heartbreak and disappointment life can bring, but finding that there is always a presence to share your burdens with. This has really funny moments and really sad moments, but you can really hear the emotions in the women, especially, but the reader made the men real, too. And finally somebody who has figured out that all the men don't have to have deep voices. Almand carries the personalities really well and you can even tell which of about a dozen women are talking! Warm and uplifting in the end.
