Dulcie Ballantyne knows that creative writers’ groups attract an unlikely bunch of people, so when she starts up Hidden Talents, she is well prepared for the assortment of people she is bringing together. But what they all have in common is a need to escape, as well as a desire to keep their lives as private as possible - even Dulcie, who at the age of 63 has been having an affair with a married man for three years. As they grow more confident in their writing skills, friendships develop and gradually they come to realise that a little openness isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

I would recommend this book to anyone. It suggest that there is still hope in human nature.
Yes, although I don't usually read a book twice I found this story entertaining.
I like the characters to be very different from one another and this book had a variety of personalities.
Oh, the accents!! I love English, Irish and Scottish accents and that's why I listen to books rather than read them.
I don't know that I had a favorite, I liked them all for different reasons.
I enjoy this author and would listen to more of her books.
entertaining, heartfelt, fun
Jaz Rafferty - just loved her spunkiness!
Anne Dover is an unparalleled reader. Her voices stay so consistent and really add incredible entertainment to this performance. She is one of my favorites!
YES! And that is rare.
"Collection of Writers"
Highly. it provides an entralling insight into diverse characters with a common interest. The book relates how their different lives intertwine providing instances of humour, sadness, trauma, bereavement and romance and how they come together to provide a cohesive support network.
The descriptions of people's characters and how they all veiwed each other and came to know and support each other.
I had not listened to any of her other performances but her voice is clear and easy to listen to I would chose a book narrated by anne Dover
Lets get together and stick together
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a tale highlighting how people can benefit from others around them during good times and bad
"Another fantastic read"
I am only just getting into Erica James and can't put my iPod down - it has never needed charging so muchThese stories are so good and I love all the threads and how they converge.I have another in my iPod and then I will be waiting for my next creditsGive Erica James a try - they are excellently written and narrated beautifully
I seem to think that they remind me of Maeve Binchy's which is perhaps why I like them so much as she was a favourite if mine. A loss to the literary world .
Dulce and Jasmine
Yes and that is exactly what I am doing now. I work from home and cannot put my iPod down
I am going to read her whole catalogue
I really enjoyed this book. A nice selection of characters of different ages and circumstances. Recommended.
"What a wonderful book!"
It has been quite a while since I read such a great book. The book tells the story of characters in different ages, joined together by their passion for writing. Happy moments, difficult ones, sad, hopeful, surprising ones and many more as in real life. It's as though I was in the group myself.
I could recommend this book to those who can emphasize in the life of others in all their aspects.
"Worth a listen"
A nice story about a group of people that get together through a writing group, a couple of unexpected twists, that keep you listening. Well written, and narrated. Worth a listen.
This is an easy listen that holds your attention but not a 'wonderful' book. Narration is consistently good and the characters a good mix, but I didn't feel involved in the book. I felt the sad event in it was predictable and you therefore remain distanced from it. Ideal for the beach!
I enjoyed this story although I thought it was a bit unbelieveable at times. The book was well written and I enjoyed the descriptive writing. It was a nice comfortable listen.
"Great storyteller loved this book"
It was real, well written with highs and lows, and a bit of fun thrown in.
Jaz and her colourful family,
Beth not had the easiest of lives but was resolute and steadfast.
In Venice when Richard came
I like Erica James books and this one has proved no exception to her brilliant writing.
The interwoven lives of a group of people with little in common
apart from an interest in writing. This draws them together by joining an informal "writing" group....where we learn of their varied lives and the paths taken. I listened to it over two days...didn't want to put it down.
Would recommend it highly. Brilliant in every way.
"Hidden Talents review"
I totally loved this book, hooked from the very start. The variety of different characters kept the story interesting all the way through. The narrator was very good too.
