"Gripping right to the end." (Daily Mail)
Ramble, ramble, blah, blah, blah for 5 hours and 30 minutes of bumbling climax without a climax.
"A disappointing read"
This the first novel by writer Carol Smith I have read and can't say I'm inspired to read more. I worked out the ending less than half way through the book and the twist I was hoping for never came. The ending was obvious too soon and there was no twist to surprise the reader in the conclusion. The narration left a lot to be desired and the accents of the characters, especially the Liverpool and Northern Irish ones, were frankly embarrassing. The only saving grace of the novel was that even though it skipped backward and forward over almost thirty years and not always in chronological order, it was a credit to the writer that I never got lost. If you like thrillers that keep you guessing until the end as I do, then don't bother with this title. As I said, a disappointing read with an all too predictable ending.
