Best Wolff Yet!
I'm usually enjoy Tobias Wolff's work but this plaintive, touching story of a man and his recently deceased wife's dog touched me more deeply than usual.
Animals featuring as literary characters can often be fraught. In Her Dog, Wolff, masterfully read and characterised by Heald, delineates a wonderful pet as person, companion, and friend. Just as we know them to be.

Surprising to me—in a good way
Tobias Wolff has been one of my favorite memoir writers for decades. I somehow never read the short story. It is deep and insightful and humorous and places, like all his work. But this one has a new element which I loved! Definitely worth downloading.
