Publisher's summary

The Presidential Agent adventures return, in the most surprising novel yet in the #1 Wall Street Journal – and New York Times–bestselling series.

Mexican drug cartels are shooting up the streets of Laredo and El Paso. Somali pirates are holding three U.S. tankers for ransom. The President of the United States is fed up and, as Commander in Chief, has what he thinks is a pretty bright idea — to get hold of Colonel Charley Castillo and his merry band and get them on the case.

Unfortunately, that will be difficult. Everybody knows that the President hates Castillo’s guts, and has just had him forcibly retired from the military, and now Castillo’s men are scattered far and wide, many of them in hiding. There are also whispers that the President himself is unstable — the word “nutcake” has been mentioned.

How will it all play out? No one knows for sure, but for Castillo and company, only one thing is definite: This is going to be hazardous duty.

Critic reviews

"Tough-fisted . . . hard-edged . . . Griffin’s formula is straightforward: Set up a bunch of obstacles, and let us watch Charley Castillo knock them down one at a time. His novels promise action, suspense, and rousing entertainment, and they never fail to deliver." ( Booklist)

Incredibly Bad

The rating system does not go low enough for this one. Need to have negative stars. Poor story, bad bad narration. While I liked the other books in this series, I wasted my money on this one. Too bad I can't get a refund.

Shame on W.E.B. Griffin

Would you try another book from W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth and/or Dick Hill?

I have always been a big fan of W.E.B. Griffin. I have read all of his series. This book, however, was a complete waste of time. 75% of the book is a review of the Presidential Agent series. The remainder is a thin and unbelieveable plot.

What could W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Write a book. Do not ab lib the series.

Just wasn't a good book

Would you try another book from W. E. B. Griffin and/or Dick Hill?

Yes,

What was most disappointing about W. E. B. Griffin’s story?

Storyline was boring. I do not like the russian woman. And the humor went away after the third book. If I were his Abuela, I could not be happy with her inclusion into the Family. She brought no joy into the series.

What character would you cut from Hazardous Duty?

The 'new' love interest!! All humor went away with her and her brother's introduction into the story line.

Any additional comments?

WHISH I HAD NOT PURCHASHED THE LAsT THREE BOOKS!!

A terrible way to say goodbye to Charlie

I’ve enjoyed the series and looked forward to this book. Whenever you invest a lot of time with a series you feel a connection to the characters and don’t want to say goodbye. I’m actually very upset at the author for making us say goodbye to Charlie and his friends in such a awful way. The characters and your fans deserved better.

You have GOT to be kidding me

What would have made Hazardous Duty better?

A good story with less talk about NOTHING. The story was NOT advanced much AT ALL.

Would you ever listen to anything by W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth again?

Debatable...if he treats his other books like THIS one...he just "mailed it in".

What three words best describe Dick Hill’s performance?

Okay...sincere...Forgiving

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Hazardous Duty?

I would have made the Author go back and WRITE a story...not just cut and paste parts from other books.

Any additional comments?

I am so disappointed with this installment. The Presidential Agent series is a good one...I would have said very good but "This was TERRIBLE", I purchased this because I just KNEW W.E.B. Griffin would not just "Mail in" an installment. This was real money used.

Don’t buy if you’ve read previous books

Very cheap and boring copy. No story, no news, just repeating all the previous books in the series. Very disappointed. Cheap

Funny

Funny book, but not what I thought it would be based on the other book in the series.

Terrible

What would have made Hazardous Duty better?

Waste of time. All of the other books in this series had a story this had nothing but rehashing of the characters.

Would you ever listen to anything by W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth again?

Not if it is on the level of this book...

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

no

Any additional comments?

I cant believe how many times the word redacted was used in this book....

Have listened to many Griffin's books BUT....

Would you try another book from W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth and/or Dick Hill?

BUT this one must have been written & narrated by his sixth grade son!!

What was most disappointing about W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth ’s story?

The "narration" did not sound @ all like DICK HILL.... The Story resembled "a hunt for a theme" ---- that was never found ----- at least as far as I listened ----- I DID NOT FINISH!!!!!

Reduntant

Too much going into the past few stories. I get that you need to inform new readers to understand the plot. This story is most of dealing with the past than on the plot at hand. The ending was weak in that there was no real solution to the problem of the President! Sorry, not a good one here!
