Publisher's summary

Josey Wales was the most wanted man in Texas. His wife and child had been lost to pre-civil War destruction and, like Jesse James and other young farmers, he joined the guerrilla soldiers of Missouri-men with no cause but survival and no purpose but revenge.

One of my favorites...

A solid and enjoyable old western novel with historical roots in the Missouri/Kansas border conflict of the American Civil War. A particularly ugly region of what was already a bloody and vile struggle.

The story was brought to life by Clint Eastwood in the movie "The Outlaw Josey Wales."

Well worth the read.

Excellent Narration

The narrator reads at a pace and tone that is suitable for the story and he does very good voices for the different characters. A very entertaining listen that I'll definitely return to.

Love it

The book is as good, if not better than the movie. I wish it was a series

Gone to Texas and Beyond

Any additional comments?

I've read the book years ago, but listening to it (while driving across the deserts of Utah and Nevada) let me enjoy this familiar tale in a new light. It's a great story made even better by Chet Williamson's reading. I look forward to listening to the sequel.

One good listen.

If you've seen the movie by the same name with Clint Eastwood, than you'll love the Audiobook. Whichever one you choose first to enjoy, you won't go wrong. I was really surprised at how much similarity between the two there was, you could follow along with no problem. And Chet Williamson does a excellent job of Narrating also.

Loved It

If you have seen the movie, the movie followed along pretty closely. The authors use of creative language was great.
