Publisher's summary

NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES • “Gone for Good contains more plot twists than you can count, with a jarring revelation in nearly every chapter. . . . [Harlan] Coben has crafted a taut thriller with a slew of compelling characters. . . . As subtle as a shotgun, and just as effective.”—San Francisco Chronicle

As a boy, Will Klein had a hero: his older brother, Ken. Then, on a warm suburban night in the Kleins’ affluent New Jersey neighborhood, a young woman—a girl Will had once loved—was found brutally murdered in her family’s basement. The prime suspect: Ken Klein. With the evidence against him overwhelming, Ken simply vanished. And when his shattered family never heard from Ken again, they were sure he was gone for good.

Now eleven years have passed. Will has found proof that Ken is alive. And this is just the first in a series of stunning revelations as Will is forced to confront startling truths about his brother—and himself. As a violent mystery unwinds around him, Will knows he must press his search all the way to the end. Because the most powerful surprises are yet to come.

“Coben stands on the accelerator and never lets up. . . . The action is seamless, clear, and riveting.”—People (Page-turner of the Week)

Not My Favorite Performance….

This Harlan Coben experience is, unfortunately, my least favorite, as far as his audio book catalog is concerned. Great story, no doubt, but one that can be made or broken by the read performance. The many layers of dramatic development and interest in Coben’s writing aren’t reflected in Mr. Marosz’s performance, I find. I would love to hear a performance of this story by the gentleman who read Coben’s “The Boy From The Woods”, “Win” or “Runaway”.

EXCELLENT!!!!

There are so many great twists and turns in this story! So many unexpected turns that it keeps the listener/reader guessing at all times but does a wonderful job of closing the circle at the end. The narrator was good...especially his tone but he could improve on differentiating in voices of different characters. With that being said...it would take a horrible narrator to ruin this story and that, he was not. Take a chance on this one...it's truly GREAT! I'm looking forward to checking this out on Netflix.

PURE THRILLS

One of his best works. There are more twists than imaginable. Everytime I thought I had it all figured out, there was another surprise.

Excellent ending

Some many twists. This is about the tenth one I’ve purchased. Twould do it again. I really love the way Coben also has characters from former novels make a cameo, although I don’t recall one here. Coben is known for his twists and turns. And they are genius. However, as a author, I would say it is his development of characters intertwined with human nature, executing those twists than make his writing so excellent. Good stuff. Deede Blake, author

Hard to stay with.

Struggled to stay with it. Story confusing but ended well. Reader did not have enough inflection in voice. Stilted.

Good, but annoying character communication skills

First off, some folks didn't like the reader's voice but once I got used to it (by the end of the first CD), I found it OK and thought the reader did a pretty good job with the various characters. I'd listen to another book read by the reader.

The story has some twists and turns to be sure, but Will (and most everyone else) needed to attend a class on communication skills. I found myself wanting to wring his neck for being so stupid and not just talking straight up when asked a direct question. When he did answer questions, they were sarcastic when it didn't seem appropriate for the character.

It also seemed a little unbelievable that his brother would never bother to contact him given how close they were supposed to be.

Even with the frustrating dysfunctional communication skills of all the characters, I found myself sitting in the car listening "just a few minutes more" which is the sign of a good book.
