Publisher's summary

NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES • “Gone for Good contains more plot twists than you can count, with a jarring revelation in nearly every chapter. . . . [Harlan] Coben has crafted a taut thriller with a slew of compelling characters. . . . As subtle as a shotgun, and just as effective.”—San Francisco Chronicle

As a boy, Will Klein had a hero: his older brother, Ken. Then, on a warm suburban night in the Kleins’ affluent New Jersey neighborhood, a young woman—a girl Will had once loved—was found brutally murdered in her family’s basement. The prime suspect: Ken Klein. With the evidence against him overwhelming, Ken simply vanished. And when his shattered family never heard from Ken again, they were sure he was gone for good.

Now eleven years have passed. Will has found proof that Ken is alive. And this is just the first in a series of stunning revelations as Will is forced to confront startling truths about his brother—and himself. As a violent mystery unwinds around him, Will knows he must press his search all the way to the end. Because the most powerful surprises are yet to come.

“Coben stands on the accelerator and never lets up. . . . The action is seamless, clear, and riveting.”—People (Page-turner of the Week)

Narration Annoying

I enjoyed the story but did not like the narrator's reading of the story. He sounded the same all the way through-whether he was talking about being beaten up, his lover, his long-lost brother, or the fruit basket brought over by a neighbor. I almost gave up. I think this narrator might have done better reading the few chapters in the book written in 3rd person, and a younger, more enthusiastic reader should have read the parts in 1st person. I will check the next book I download, and will not download one by this narrator.

Very interesting book

The book keeps your interest and is a first rate mystery. Maybe too many twists, but put your analytical magnifying glass aside and its a great story.
(unfortunately no Myron Bolitar!)

Mystery buffs can't miss

My first Coben book; complex storyline that holds your interest and sets up the surprise twists nicely; can definitely see why this author has been decorated with awards; no qualms in my recommendation; unabridged for sure.

it started slow, ripped up in the middle of the story, then slow down again, and end with a flourish. had a tough time getting through this one buddy.

A smart action Thriller<br />

This is a good listen. Smart, but easy to follow if your multitasking. Thrilling and romantic, without the stereo typical male / female roles prevalent in this genre.

Too many twists, too many turns!

I have always enjoyed Coben stories, and was excited for this one ... but I ended up disappointed.

First of all, it was very slow to start ... to the point of boring. I went back to read the publishers preview etc. to see if I wanted to continue. It promised to get exciting. Well, it did, and it didn't.

I love twists and surprises as much as anyone, but this story has just a few too many ... right up to the end.

Keep notes if you want to keep up with this one ... hopefully you will enjoy it more than I did.

Just couldn't get into it

I have read just about everything by Harlan Coben - I absolutely love his stuff...but despite all the great reviews this book got, I just couldn't get past the first hour.
I've started it, given up and restarted it about 4 times and just can't get hooked. It's just too slow a start and the narrator has done nothing to pull me in.
I don't think I'll go back to it a 5th time, even in desperation.....

Good book but....

Book was good but I couldn't get past the narration. It just didn't work for me, I actually listened to over 4 hours and quit.... which is totally not my style, however reading was so off of what I have already listened to from Coben.

Great story but narrator wasn’t

Another excellent Harlan Coven novel with gripping suspense and plot twists that was truly enjoyable. The only issue was the narrators delivery was simply too choppy. Each sentence sounded independent of the rest which took away a bit from the story. Still a great novel and worth the listen!
