Publisher's summary

NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES • “Gone for Good contains more plot twists than you can count, with a jarring revelation in nearly every chapter. . . . [Harlan] Coben has crafted a taut thriller with a slew of compelling characters. . . . As subtle as a shotgun, and just as effective.”—San Francisco Chronicle

As a boy, Will Klein had a hero: his older brother, Ken. Then, on a warm suburban night in the Kleins’ affluent New Jersey neighborhood, a young woman—a girl Will had once loved—was found brutally murdered in her family’s basement. The prime suspect: Ken Klein. With the evidence against him overwhelming, Ken simply vanished. And when his shattered family never heard from Ken again, they were sure he was gone for good.

Now eleven years have passed. Will has found proof that Ken is alive. And this is just the first in a series of stunning revelations as Will is forced to confront startling truths about his brother—and himself. As a violent mystery unwinds around him, Will knows he must press his search all the way to the end. Because the most powerful surprises are yet to come.

“Coben stands on the accelerator and never lets up. . . . The action is seamless, clear, and riveting.”—People (Page-turner of the Week)

☆Entire book..Someone else was speaking!?

♡♡♡Throughout this wonderfully written novel you could hear noise. It was like having a talk radio going on in the background! Honestly! Get the book because it was beautifully written and the narration was super♡♡♡
☆☆Write to Audible about the off & on noise and distraction of someone else speaking in the background though...

Another fabulous Coban mystery & Marosz performance

Would you consider the audio edition of Gone for Good to be better than the print version?

No doubt. Jonathan Marosz is the perfect narrator for Coban's novels. He has that growly, sardonic delivery that matches the dry humor of Coban's central characters.

What did you like best about this story?

As usual in HC's books, the main character is a more than decent human who loves his family and underestimates his own worth. Above that foundation, Coban has structured a mystery with enough twists to keep you on your toes (although his foreshadowing did give away the denoument).

Which scene was your favorite?

When Will struggles to defend Julie against her attacker, he still sees himself as a subpar rescuer.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, but in large chunks.

Any additional comments?

This is probably the best stand-alone (non-serial) Coban novel to date.

very engaging book

delighted with all of the unexpected twists and turns. now i want to listen to this again as I think some of the earlier sections of the book will have more meaning in context. Good character development. I can see why this became a movie.

The downside to this audio book was the performance. I think Narosz did a good job with different voices, with the pace of the book and with his various inflections. but his reading voice has a gravelly quality to it that resulted in the end of words being left off, which was a bit annoying. At first, I thought something had caused the audio to had skip forward, but happened throughout the narration of the book.

Definitely a Coben “must have”

This is my fourth Coben listen and I’m honestly impressed that he has impressed me once again. Several times I had assumed I had everything figured out only to be completely surprised by the twists.
