Publisher's summary

Jackie Collins' fierce and wildly beautiful heroine Lucky Santangelo is back with a vengeance—in a novel full of power, passion, revenge, and the raging family dynamics of the Santangelo clan—and, as always, Lucky comes out on top.

Lucky runs a high profile casino and hotel complex, The Keys in Vegas.

Lennie, her movie star husband, is still writing and directing successful independent movies, while Max, her stubborn and gorgeous teenage daughter is about to celebrate her 18th birthday, and her son, Bobby, owns a string of hot clubs. Lucky has everything. Family. Love. Life.

And everything is exactly what billionaire businessman Armand Jordan is determined to take from her one way or the other.

Born a Prince in the small but affluent Middle Eastern country of Akramshar, Armand comes to America with his American mother at an early age, and rises to become a real estate business titan. Armand regards women as nothing more than breeding mares or sexual playthings, so when his people inform him that the one property he covets more than anything, The Keys, is not for sale, he is shocked. That a mere woman would dare to turn down his offer to buy The Keys is unthinkable, and Armand vows to force Lucky's hand whatever it takes. And so the battle for power begins . . .

Meanwhile Bobby is dealing with shady Russian investors, while his girlfriend—smart and independent Denver Jones—is becoming a Deputy D.A. in the L.A. drug unit.

And Max, Bobby's seventeen year old sister, is busy embarking on a forbidden affair with a sexy young movie star. An affair they have to keep on the down-low lest Lucky finds out.

The word is that "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" and what happens in Goddess of Vengeance will blow your mind!

Critic reviews

“When is an audio book so very, very much more than another audio book? When it's read by Jackie Collins, Sidney Poitier and a cast of can't-stop-listening-to characters. Of course, Collins's inimitable voice is the headliner but blended with Poitier's rich, deep voice – well, folks, that's topnotch listening.” —Beauty by the Books

“No one paints a more tawdry -- and delicious -- portrait of Hollywood than prolific novelist Jackie Collins.” —New York Post

Another home run for Jackie

This is a typical Jackie Collins novel. And if you love Jackie's books and more to the point, Lucky Santangelo, you will enjoy this book. My only complaint is that Jackie decided to do the voice of Lucky herself...big mistake. Lucky is supposed to be Italian. Jackie's English accent doesn't fit the character at all.

Narrator

The man you used as narrator was dull and boring. He had absolutely no expression in his voice. Monotone throughput the whole book!
I would not purchase another book with him narrating!

Fun listen but the male narrator is awful.

If you could sum up Goddess of Vengeance in three words, what would they be?

Classic Jackie.

Did the narrators do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

The male narrator who begins the book needs to remember that this is not a dime store dectective novel. I hate how he delivers the lines! Say the words normally, not like your Sam Spade waiting for the mysterious blond to walk through your dimly lit office in a haze of smoke and mist. I mean come on. The rest of the narrators did a good job and kept the focus on telling the story not trying to make themselves into the star of the book. Not sure if it was Christian Baskous or David C. Wells but one of them needs to check his ego at the door and just read the darn book. Thank goodness he wasn't the only narrator or I'd have to delete the book and not listen to the rest of it.

Any additional comments?

As always Jackie's books keep me engaged and entertained. After listening to an extremely lengthy and some what emotionally difficult book, listening to a Jackie Collins novel is just what I needed.

Too many Charaters

This book did not meet my expectations
The narrator caused many of the characters to sound the same. The story created several unfinished answers regarding many of the characters

Good as always....

If you've read/listened to Jackie Collins -then this book will fall in line with the rest... no suprises - ends as they all do, but that's why I keep picking up her books... because I like the story of how they get to the happy ending.

This book has MANY different narrators and voices. The begining of the book was almost difficult to follow the women's conversation with the male narrator interjecting every couple of words. I'd say that the narration is distracting at times - I found myself almost annoyed by their voices rather than captivated.

If you are a Jackie Collins fan - you will enjoy this book.

Your typical Jackie Collins novel!

I can't say I didn't enjoy this novel, but there were a few things that were a little bit disturbing. First of all, the narrators. There were many characters and only three narrators, so it was a bit confusing for me at times to follow the story. As well, Jackie Collins was Lucky Santangelo's voice, which in my opinion was not a suitable, since Lucky is a young, American woman, so the accent didn't match the description.

On the other hand, even though the story was good and I was entertained, the ending was not as powerful as I expected, taking in account the build up created throughout the novel.

It's 3.5/5 stars for me.

A More Mellow Santangelo Novel

Would you listen to Goddess of Vengeance again? Why?

Perhaps at a later date yes. I would like to read all the Santangelo novels in order.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lucky has always been my favorite. She is what every woman dreams of being.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?

The cast was fine except for the voice of Lucky. I was very disappointed. I didnt expect the accent or the age in her voice. It was actually a let down.

Any additional comments?

The Santangelo novels hits us like fireworks. I guess it is to be expected that as the characters age, the story mellows. In the last two novels though I kept expecting more edge of your seat reading. I still enjoyed the book though.
