"[Vonnegut] at his wildest best!" (The New York Times Book Review)
I will absolutely listen to this story again. It was my favorite Vonnegut story long before I listened to it on Audible. I have read it many times, and have quickly converted into Vonnegut fans by suggesting that they listen to this particularly short and sweet novel. I swear to you, listen and enjoy. You won't fine a more enjoyable character anywhere else in literature. Honestly.
I am still trying my damnedest to catch flies with a cup of soapy water. It's worth the effort.
No. This was my first. Won't be my last. Well done!
God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater
Putting this book on sale is the best thing Audible can do for its listeners.
No. It was a short book and I had a long drive to listen to it. It was actually hard for me to get through and at no point did it really captivate my attention. I found myself constantly drifting into thought out of boredom.
It wasn't that interesting/funny to me. I think Vonnegut is a great writer but this book was a disappointment to me.
The narrator is great and brings life into each character.
I'm not a literary fanatic- just an average Jane, so perhaps that's why this wasn't my cup of tea. I like books that are a little easier to listen to I suppose. I'm impressed with Vonnegut's writing and will probably still read some of his other books but the story behind this one was just not at all interesting to me.
"E pluribus unum is surely an ironic motto to inscribe on the currency of this Utopia gone bust, for every grotesquely rich American represents property, privileges, and pleasures that have been denied the many. An even more instructive motto, in the light of history made by the Noah Rosewaters, might be: Grab much too much, or you'll get nothing at all."
I LOVE VONNEGUT!
