Susan Pettiford hasn't been home to North Carolina in 16 years. But then she inherits her aunt's home, giving her an opportunity to start her own interior design business. After a passionate fling with handsome architect Lucas Hamilton, Susan is tormented by mixed feelings. Although there is a palpable connection between the two that could evolve into something much more, Susan keeps their fling to exactly one night. Having recently endured a hysterectomy, she knows she can never give a man a family - so she pushes Lucas away.

This story was not only well paced, but so well layered. I found myself so engrossed in the tug of wills between Lucas and Susan that buy the second half of the book i had to finish it in one sitting. If you want rich characters who seem to represent the best of what people can be and be engulfed in a really beautiful story for a few hours definitely buy this book, once you get hooked you will want to read everything by this author. Once you fall in love you'll also want to buy "When you dance with the Devil" also by this author and equally as gripping.

Getting Some of Her Own was a wonderful audible to listen to. The narrator did a wonderful job in telling the story. By having listened to Gwynne Forsters, "When Twilight Comes" this audible "Getting Some of Her Own" was a follow up to it. I found Getting Some of Her Own was very interesting in how the author put it all together. All of the characters were wonderful and it was hard for me to stop listening to it until it was finshed.
Great job Gwynne Forster! I can't wait until I can get into another audible.
I felt like I really knew these characters and knew them. Very well written and warm story. I did not want this book to end. I noticed that there were some characters from a previous book, that was cool. I wish Audio would get more books by Gwynne Forster. Bravo! This would make a great movie. Narrator was excellent too.
