The Gardens of Delight brochure promises the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful gardens in Italy. For Lucy, the chance to go to Italy offers more than just gardens.
Helen and her wealthy husband have just moved into the Old Rectory. With her husband spending so much time away from home, Helen throws herself into caring for the garden. But Helen needs help.
Conrad isn't the least bit interested in gardening. His life revolves around work and humouring Mac, his elderly uncle. Mac wants to go on the tour, but only if Conrad accompanies him. Reluctantly, Conrad agrees.
"Anything for a peaceful life," he concedes. But a peaceful life is the last thing any of them are in for....

Interesting variety of characters.
Good descriptions of a trip to the lake district of Italy.
Her Italian accents are excellent.
No, it was slow in places and I took longer than usual to finish it.
I wasn't sure I would like this as it started rather slowly with some unlikeable characters. Also the ending was not exactly what I expected. I enjoyed the development of the story, especially once the scene shifted to Italy.
Enjoyed the little twists in her life. It was a light happy read. I don't want to give away any of the details, but I can say it was nice to see friendships of all ages mixed.
Erica James has wonderful descriptions of the landscaping.
The way she wrote about the Italian gardens will always be with me. I wanted to buy a plane ticket to Lake Como right then and there!
The Italian lover.
Oh yes, the Italian lover...
Enjoyable, Fun, Travel
Helen, she was brave enough to take on new adventures and change her life for the unknown.
Great character changes
"2 Small blips"
I haven't read the book
I really enjoyed the whole book
I loved mac's matter of factness
Francesca's story really moved me
There were a couple of blips where 2 recordings played at the same time for a few seconds and on the second one the characters changed.
"First ever Erica James and it was a Delight"
I loved this author's story and the narrator's voice was perfect . I was interested to see the stories unfold and how they merged and added new characters to the mix. This was my first Erica James but will certainly not be my last. Once started I could not put my iPod down. Lucky for me I bought another Erica James at the same time so it is time I was off to read another from Ms. James - looking forward to reading many more.
I have not ready books like this , I usually really murder mystery but this was a refreshing change and one I was so glad I decided to buy
No never but I will search for her in future
Gardens and their owners ....
"Flowers of the Imagination"
Unpredictable plot twists and believable characters made this a journey worth taking. There was a love of place and people that made this a comforting, escapist read without being too neat and tidy. Like the wild spaces and unexpected scents and vistas in a garden of delights I felt encouraged to explore by an expert hand.
"A couple of niggles, over all okay"
I was expecting a chick lit book, which it is. One major niggle is the narration of the older people's voices, particularly the men, the tone and some accents are jarring and they continue to grate and it detracted from the book. It is a pity because the younger voices were pleasant to listen to. The other is the audio glitch, just a small section where something strange happens to the audio. It was a long tale to get through, and was a little too long and some of it became a little too entangled and I wasn't sure who was talking.
"An enjoyable listen"
A most enjoyable read. Erica James is not afraid to go deeper than the usual chic-lit material, and the result is engrossing and satisfying. However, I did find that the some of the reading was distracting rather than enhancing. I know the narrator has to try to differentiate between characters, but some of the tones and accents are so jarring that they jolted my attention away from the story. A bit of a pity, but not enough to make me regret buying it.
My second Erica James audio. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys travelling through the complexities of relationships with the bonus of descriptive scenery - with both of her audio books I reach a point where it's compulsive listening, I am enjoying her work immensely
"Over dramatised delivery"
Not a bad story but ruined by the over the top dramatic narrative, took determination to get to the end Ms Bond is not for me
Really enjoyed this book as I always do with Erica James. Light reading but with a good story and wonderful humour.
