The curse of Foxworth Hall has fascinated millions of readers, and Garden of Shadows is where it all begins. Long before four innocent children were locked away in an attic by their cruel grandmother, the seeds of obsession were sown in their proud family. Whether you are familiar with Flowers in the Attic or not, the genesis of the evil that unfolds in V.C. Andrews' best-selling prequel is shocking, compelling, and completely irresistible.

Yes, yes, YES!!!!! Dare I say I loved this book just as much (if not more) than the 1st book?? I truely enjoyed every bit of this book
The description of the grand parties thrown at Foxworth Hall. It all sounded so elegant. Oh, to be a fly on the wall..................
It's hard to pick one. There was so much revealed
Yes, the hurt that Olivia felt. When we first met her in the original story she was a hardened witch to everyone. But to see her so fragile and meek in the beginning of this story almost make you feel sorry for her. You can almost, "almost" understand her anger and resentment towards the kids and everyone else. it's as if she had to harden herself to keep from letting her emotions/feelings control her
I wish the story had more detail. I was dissapointed everytime the narrator uttered "a few years later.." or "by the next summer....". Compared to the other books, it seemed that it went by so fast. I was able to finish the book in two days
I thought it was great. I really liked the narrator and would look for more books she uses part of.
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
It was all very enjoyable, even if it hurt my heart and angered me!
The beginning, meeting Olivia...she had such hope...she was NOT always cruel!
would not rename it...its a classic in the VC Andrews library...
Now I understand why Olivia was so cruel, and hard....Malcolm made her that way 100%! He is the devil in all of this...he assaulted his own new bride, and then did the same thing to his fathers widow....he never loved Olivia, she was basically an employee and there to breed with...he treated his own children cruelly....was selfish with them, and barely a father to them....I know what Corrine and Christopher did was wrong...but there have been studies conducted, and blood attracts blood, they have seen this happen with half siblings many, many times...maybe if there house wouldn't have been the ultimate house of lies from the get go, things may have went differently...but again ALL MALCOLM!!!
I loved this book...it really answered some questions for me!!! If you are a fan of this series, I recommend you pick this one up now!!!
It's nice to hear the grandmother's side of the story. It was a bit bland in the beginning but picked up half way through. Nevertheless, if you've already gone through the first two books you really do need to go through this one too. Now I'm going to listen to Flowers in the Attic again and it will all make sense.
I enjoyed listening to how it all begin. Now know the WHOLE story there is more clear sight to the method of all the Madness to follow!
As I come to the end of the book I have a better understanding of the pain and hardness the mother endured which forced her to become who she became. I will never look at the movie the same. I cant wait to read all installments of the series.
Now I know the how and why of why the evil grandmother was who she was. She had every reason to be the way that she was because of the evil Malcolm Neal Foxworth. Excellent read!!!!
