Critic reviews

"Koontz is a master of the edge-of-your-seat, paranoid thriller and perhaps the leading American practitioner of the form.” ( The Star-Ledger)
“Koontz writes first-rate suspense, scary and stylish.” ( Los Angeles Times)
“A rarity among bestselling writers, Koontz continues to pursue new ways of telling stories, never content with repeating himself. He writes of hope and love in the midst of evil in profoundly inspiring and moving ways.” ( Chicago Sun-Times)

Start from the beginning!

This book series is one of those rare occasions that going through the second time is even better than the first! Koontz is the best!

Good but.......

This is probably the best story since the first one the mill two aren't so good but I understand why he needed to put those in I would say the only downside to this audiobook is the performance umm..... Tell me why the guy reading it makes Jack a sound stupid fucking gay and he's a little bit over-the-top with the sound effects but if you can get over that like I did it's an amazing story

getting back to it.

I really liked the odd numbered books in this series. The first was probably the best. The characters could be more developed, but that is a small nit pick. I like Jocko and wish we could have seen more of him.
As for the story, it is very engaging and, while not as tightly knit as some novels, it is better than most in this genre. Over all, I really like this series from DK. Some of his books are just not my style. I like the Odd Thomas series and the book One Door Away From Heaven. If you have not read the other books in this series, don't skip them. 2 of the main characters in this book will make absolutely no sense without the background of the earlier books.
I wanted to give this a 3.5, but could not figure out how.. So, 4 it is. It's a fun read.

I can’t help it

I love this series. I just can’t help myself. But it’s fun, scary, adventurous, and just downright entertaining! It’s such a great turn from the original Frankenstein monster, with such depth of character that it’s hard not to love him. He is enigmatic and admirable that I feel we should all learn from his view of the world from the shadows. And the end doesn’t leave you hanging, which I always appreciate. If you like monsters and mayhem and love and sadness, I highly recommend the Frankenstein series!

ending was eh...

listen to all five books and I have to say, the ending of the series seemed phoned in, all wrapped up in a neat 21 minute package....

better the second time around

this is the second time I've listened to this story and it's better the second time I only hope that Mr Koontz will one day revive Frankenstein together with Carson and Michael and of course Jocko
