Publisher's summary

Obsessed with creating life itself, Victor Frankenstein plunders graveyards for the material to fashion a new being, which he shocks into life with electricity. But his botched creature, rejected by Frankenstein and denied human companionship, sets out to destroy his maker and all that he holds dear. Mary Shelley's chilling Gothic tale was conceived when she was only 18, living with her lover Percy Shelley near Byron's villa on Lake Geneva. It would become the world's most famous work of horror fiction, and remains a devastating exploration of the limits of human creativity.

excellent reading

What made the experience of listening to Frankenstein the most enjoyable?

I hadn't read the tale in many years, lots of things I'd forgotten about.

Who was your favorite character and why?

the monster, as he has an arc

What about Richard Pasco’s performance did you like?

i enjoyed his pacing and his voice

If you could take any character from Frankenstein out to dinner, who would it be and why?

seriously? they're all horrid people

Wonderful story, but a tough listen.

I loved the story, but it was tough to keep interest during a lot of the supporting dialog.

Beware the abridged

Richard Pasco has a delightful voice that I don't mind listening to, and Frankenstein (or the modern Prometheus) is an amazing tale, but I whole-heatedly loathe abridged books.

Unless not receiving the entire story is your kink, avoid this title.

Unbelivable

Would you try another book from Mary Shelley and/or Richard Pasco?

Probably not by Mary Shelley unless this was her 1st book. I would listen to another narrated by Richard Pasco.

What could Mary Shelley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The story wasn't believable. The monster spoke with words I believe he would not have used. Maybe if the monster wasn't so elegant it would have been better for me.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Richard Pasco?

I think Richard did a fine job.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment would definitely be the adjective I would use. So much so I did not finish the book.

Any additional comments?

Not finishing the book is probably the best comment I could make.
