London, 1822

Impoverished Julian Parker returns to London with one goal: marry an heiress. He'll do whatever it takes, even if it means denying his desire for men. After all, with a fortune comes happiness and social acceptance - which have eluded Julian his entire life.

The only things a vast fortune has brought Oscar Woodhaven are greedy relatives and loneliness. At 21 years of age, he has everything a man could possibly want—except someone to love him. When he meets devastatingly handsome Julian Parker, he believes his luck has turned.

Between Oscar's lavish gifts and their searing-hot nights, Julian is caught between what he thinks he needs and what his heart truly desires. But when a betrayal threatens to tear them apart, Julian discovers he'll do whatever it takes to convince Oscar the greatest fortune of all is love.

3 1/2 Stars for a pretty charming historical

I like these short very romantic, quite steamy, audiobooks in this series. Heartwarming nice stories for dark winter listenings days. Pleasant narrated as well. - Another little gem.

On to the third part.

I LIKE - sweet M/M romances!!

Romance with HEA, but ended abruptly

I think of this book as being in three Acts. The first Act leads us right up to the Inevitable Conflict (you HAVE to have some sort of conflict before you get to the HEA, right?). This Act is beautifully done: rich in detail, in emotion and well…let’s call it “heat”, for want of a more explicit term. The conflict is pretty massive.

As for Act Two, working through that conflict…I have a few issues. First of all, there isn’t really an Act Two – it’s basically just a time shift. Second, the length of this time shift, during which the relationship is on standby, seems a bit too long for me for people to keep all that emotion on “simmer”, and too short to produce a radical change in accent (which the narrator does very well, by the way – doing different accents is already a skill, but mixing two accents in the same sentence from one speaker and still having it sound natural is kinda “wow!”).

And then there’s Act Three. As I mentioned, the Inevitable Conflict was pretty major, so I was curious how the conversation would go between the two central characters. I really wondered how they were going to patch this rift. I liked the dialog, satisfying, good resolution to the conflict, but then…poof! It was over. I was hoping for a bit more.

Nevertheless, this trilogy is a series of “short and sweet” stories. I get that. So parts of the story will necessarily be somewhat abridged. However, the whole “feel good” part, the HEA-part, left me wanting a bit. Would have liked to bask in it a bit more.

Good but unsatisfying ending sort of a cliffhanger

Fortune Hunter is a good read and good continuation in the Brook Street series . Charlie Belmont as it's narrator make this listen memorable. I could listen him for hours . As for the story it self, I was entertained but not really mesmerized as with the first book. The heroes of this story weren't particularly likeable or intriguing . I was more interested in hearing about Benjamin and Calvin relationship from book 1. Also, this book has an abrupt ending, that it's immensely unsatisfying. I will listen to book 3 , to have some type of closure.

Really enjoyed! Great narration,

Ava March is just a master at historical romance. Even though I thought that I was going to 2 or 3 star this up until 50% of the way through the book, Ava March turned things around and made me love this one.

First of all, props to Charlie Belmont, who narrated this book LIKE A BOSS. I really adored his narration, and I'll be looking for more audiobooks from him in the future.

This book started out difficult for me because Julian was such a user-McUser-face. I wanted to bitch slap him, like for REAL. However, Julian just turns the whole thing around near the end, and I was a mushy-gooey pile in the palm of Ava March's hand. Love her.

Sure, this wasn't as hot or kinky as other books from this author, but I love a good redemption story. This was a quick and VERY satisfying listen.

Nice, Sweet Romance

I would give the story 3.5 stars and the narrator 5 stars. This is a really sweet MM romance set in gothic England. I didn't like it as much as the first book, but it was enjoyable. The only issue I had is the HFN ending; I like HEA. It was a little unsatisfying. I found myself saying, but what now?. The length of the novella does not warrant a credit, but it is a good on sale read.

A Simple, Good Romance

A fairly standard fortune hunter romance. A good and solid troupe that I enjoyed but I was hoping for a something extra to make it great. Oscar was such a simple and idealistic character. I feel this limited the depth of the story and characterization. I liked that there was groveling. I never turn down a good grovel session! And it was fun to see Ben and Gavin again.

Great narrator, good story

The story is really enjoyable overall. It set up a lot of conflict that was really engaging, and I was excited to see how the leads resolved everything. The ending was rushed and seemed to tie everything off with just some conversations and time jumps. It left me feeling a bit cheated out of the story I waited for. The pay off could have been so much stronger if we'd been given more. The characters and general premise are fun, though.

The narrator is outstanding. He really brought life to it.
